I can't believe dirty ass rick lyle is a coach! That is too funny. I remember when he stuck his leg out to trip an opposing RB (T. Davis maybe?) and he broke his leg....
dude, herm was a guy who threw ppl under the bus a lot.... "i cant manage the clock at the end of the game....fire the OC" "i cant manage the clock at the end of the game....fire the DC" "i cant fire anyone else....time to get the hell outta dodge"
Mangini had to keep some holdovers from Herm's regime. I think any new HC has to keep some of the old hands on board to help with player evaluations and critiques if nothing else. As a side note, I thought Marcin was mostly a screamer, not a teacher. I almost never saw him pull a player aside to work on his technique, working on footwork or demonstrating how to use the arms to keep offensive linemen from getting under your pads. He was good at yanking a player out of a scrimmage and making him stand on the sidelines though. In short, I think he is old school, and doesn't communicate worth a darn. It seemed to be all bluster and no substance with the guy. I could be very wrong, but those are my percieved observations from the many training camp practices I've watched. I compared him to Tont Wise, O line coach. He yells and screams too, but he got one on one with his players after every drill, teaching, demonstrating, making them get it right before moving on. The difference was rather stark to me, anyways.
As expected, the Jets will not be renewing the contract of assistant running backs/special teams coach Sam Gash and defensive backs coach Corwin Brown has officially been named the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame. However ? and this is a big however ? defensive line coach Denny Marcin is still a member of the Jets? staff. It?s not yet clear whether he will return to the Jets in the same position, be re-assigned within the organization or ultimately let go. But he has definitely not been fired as of today http://jets.lohudblogs.com/2007/01/19/a-clarification-and-birthday-wishes/#comments
I don't really agree with it, which is why I put it in quotes, I just figured I'd post the inevitable Herm comment. junc was my second choice!
However, defensive line coach Denny Marcin, contrary to published reports, remains under contract to the team. Marcin, 64, the Wayne resident who coached the Giants' D-line for seven seasons before joining the Jets in 2004, may be considering retirement http://www.northjersey.com/page.php...lRUV5eTcwNjA5MTAmeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk2
I think it's hard to retain anyone in the NFL. players leave for money and also coach's as well. pretty much, "show me the money", nfl.
ROTFLMAO and I agree with you! I can just see some DUH-HERM fans getting annoyed at what you wrote! LOL
what about the guy that one the super bowl last year. Dungy is pretty good, dan reeves and thats just off the top of my head I am sure there is a lot more. None of these guys went to the hall of fame as a player but were good players in the NFL who were/are better then average coaches.
