This may come as a shock to you, but not everything is about you. Some of us are older and like reminiscing about past players. If you don't, fine, just skip the thread. The moderators don't tell us what we should discuss, and neither should you.

I had the pleasure of meeting Clark Gaines about 20 years ago. One of my best friends is a lawyer for the NFLPA and Clark Gaines was an official with the union for many years after his playing days. On one occasion I was in D.C. visiting my friend at the office. He knew I was a big Jets fan and introduced me to Gaines. A very gregarious fellow who seemed thrilled that I knew who he was. When I shook his hand, my hand seemed to vanish in his. He also paints for a hobby.

Hey it's the off-season. Probably cool to reminisce about if you were around or learn about if you weren't

Learning about something one doesn't know. What a concept! Unfortunately, it seems to be lost on many of the younger generation.

Some of these guys were before my time (born in 85) but I'm sure when I'm in my 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's etc I'll enjoy thinking back on players of my generation such as Vinny, Martin, Keyshawn, Glenn, Mickens, Green, Ottis, Cox, Marvin, Mo Lewis, Mawae, Jumbo, Ellis, Chrebet, Pennington, Coles, Moss, Vilma, Abe, Revis, Mangold, Ferguson, Harris, Wilk, Leonard etc etc and countless of others.

I've always enjoyed learning more about old timers such as Namath, Maynard, Klecko, Grantham, McNeil, Winston, Gastineau, Walker, Toon, Hill, Boozer, Philbin, Powell, Lyons, Shuler, Riggins, Mehl etc and hope that younger generations care enough about the culture of my franchise to do the same with players i grew up watching.

  7. I love learning about stuff like this too. I celebrate the Jets entire history..unfortunately born in 82..my earliest & fondest memories are from 88 onward..the early 90's nfl primetime footage gives me goosebumps.

Anytime I can hear more about the classic players I missed out on I soak it all up.

Clark was a player with limited ability that made the most of what he had and was a solid player for us. A lot of heart. Is a big shot in the players association I understand

This guy was a do it all back who always played hard, his teams were really bad, what I don't remember is why he left the Jets, did he injure himself out of the Jets, or was it another trade for a ust
