It hasn't been that bad. In the past, yea, it was bad. But post Parcells we haven't been some tortured franchise. Pats might have a lot of bandwagoning douchebag fans, but if the only time we are willing to support our team like good fans should is if we are winning the superbowl, what does that make us?
I'm watching the post-game interview with Chad on SNY. When asked about the cheers, he said he would hope that Clemens got cheered when he entered the game. He would hope anyone playing would be cheered. He also mentioned how he got cheered when he got back into the game, so he felt nothing wrong with the cheer for Clemens. He may truly mean that, or may just say be saying that to the media. From what I saw, I don't think it was right for the Jets fans in attendance to do. But whatever, can't change what happened in the past.
Chad Pennington looked sharp. He limped all over the field and still executed a drive nicely. I was not impressed with clemens either.
I chose the "they were drunk" option. I can't bear to be associated with the idiots that cheered without some kind of excuse for them. Quite a few people with no class at all have season tickets!
I was sick to my stomach when I heard those cheers after Chad went out. Disgusting. What are we, Philly fans? No matter how much you want a QB change, to cheer when your QB goes down is disgusting. Shame on you Jets fans...shame.
Stop attacking the Pats fan. He is right. Jets fans reached an all time low. Hate him or not, it was disgraceful.
Give me a break. It's not like Clemens came in there and even scored a touchdown. Not only that but Chad was having a good game, it was the rest of the team that let us down.
We're a product of our environment. Constantly settling for mediocrity year afteryear while watching our biggest rival continually succeed... This is the result. We want the Pats dynasty to end, and we want a Jets SB. At all costs.
Pathetic fans, i'll say it again. Chad deserves better. 16/21 2 TD's (1 after injury) what a warrior.
I don't know about that, sometimes I consider some of Chad's drawbacks a direct result of such close tutelage by Hackett, and in that case it would be both of their faults. Hackett struck me as a guy concerned mostly with the starting QB only, and in that case he was obsessive about his QB; whenever we had a backup come in under Hackett, we were doomed. When Chad first came on the scene in 02 he was not exactly as scared to throw the ball as he was after that season. Hackett was a no-mistakes kind of guy who wanted a high completion rate no matter who the receiver was... although he never understood the idea of utilizing TEs very well. Every year under Hackett it seemed that Chad was less comfortable in the pocket.
It was simply a disgrace. It was the first time through all the crap that I was actually embarrassed to be a Jets fan.
I dunno about you...but im sic and tired of being promised a winner year in and year out...and settling for the garbage we saw today. Meanwhile our biggest rival dominates both sides of the ball no matter who they play, gets every bounce, every ounce of luck and every call.
The cheers got extremely loud when it was clear that Pennington was coming out of the game. Like Phil Simms, I felt that the "fans" were disgraceful. It is an embarrassment to root for the same team as those people.
I was so disgusted with our fans I had to leave the room for a few minutes. I hope we never see something like that again. P.S. Pennington is the man in my book after that and leading us on that drive for a TD. That's what a winner does.
