You think the billboard is what got him fired and not his ineptitude and a 4-12 record after missing the playoffs for the 4th straight year? Yeah, I am sure it was all because of a couple of billboards.
If there were no billboards, Idzik would be the Jets General Manager right now. Anyone who has been a fan of this team more than 10 minutes knows that's not even a debatable point. Woody fired Idzik because he was finally embarrassed by the media ... and he finally became embarrassed by the media because the fans (the billboards) were openly mocking him at every opportunity.
I am not going to bother arguing this with you, you have absolutely no proof to back up the definitive statement you are making. I have been a fan for quite a bit longer than 10 minutes and don't think for a second that he was fired because of billboards. Ask 1000 people and I am sure you might find a few to agree with you but I am sure the vast majority would sensibly agree that it had to do with his job performance. The fact that you say this is not debatable is laughable.
I've been a Jets fan for 30 years and I don't think the billboards made any difference. Owners fire GM's because they suck, not because some guy who owns a billboard puts up a Fire Idzik sign.
This has nothing to did with Rex. We just have a lot of meathead fans. If your gonna do it, don't put your name on the sign. That at least I would respect a little bit. But instead it's an immature "look at me."
Not our owners. Our owners have been consistently delighted to sit there and let the team be terrible for decades-long periods (as long as the games sell out). Idzik was the first GM (or coach) in the team's history where the person didn't hang around for at least two years (continuing to suck) after 80% of the fanbase had completely given up on him.
Since Johnson took over ownership in 2000 there have been 3 GMs Bradway 2001-2005 made playoffs 3 out of 1st 4 years and then 5th year went 4-12 before being replaced Tannenbaum 2006-2012 made playoffs 3 out of 1st 5 years but went 2 years without making the playoffs so was replaced Idzik 2013-2014 where they saw a serious decline and a 4-12 record in his second year then replaced Please point out these decades long periods where Johnson let the team be terrible and didn't change the GM. I am in no way agreeing with the way Johnson has run the team but your idea that a billboard was the driving force behind Idzik being fired is ridiculous.
I like it. Someone has to say it it may as well be us. Now let's take the division title from 'em in 2015!!!

I think the banner was pretty stupid and we sunk to the Pats and their fans level. Now they can say "See? The Jets fans are scumbags har har har". I'd rather us beat those cheaters on the football field.
John Idzik got fired because he couldn't handle the PR end of being the GM. That news conference at the bye got him fired. The billboards were just a heavy-handed attempt to make Woody Johnson do what he was probably going to do anyway.
