They're not right. I don't know where the hell your numbers are from, but if you watched the games, you'd know that Evans was relevant in 3 games this season. Watkins and Beckham have been more reliable, but again, didn't have a shot at them. The rest of these guys are average NFL WRs at best. But as jets fans, everyone overreacts. Put any of those guys on our offense and watch them flounder.
I didn't make them up So I got them from "hell". The response was not to see how they would do on the Jets. Clearly with GeNO at the helm they would suck. But they are clearly better than the motley crew we had at the start of the season. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...receiver-class-blowing-away-high-expectations
Hey, if any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like John Idzik, our general manager, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there in Florham Park with all the other executives and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, cap-hoarding, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, skinny, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is!! Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol?
As I said, almost all of those guys were drafted before the Jets took a WR. You can argue that these guys would be better than what we got because they were drafted higher. You can argue that the Jets should have taken one of these WRs earlier, but then we'd be neglecting other positions. I'll argue that this article was written a mere 2 months into the season and is an extremely reactionary report based on statistics...statistics these players would never have gotten on our terrible pass offense. You can argue that the players we drafted could have a solid future in the NFL on a team that knows how to coach a WR, but we'd never know that here. Regardless, it's the end of December, and you're using a Bleacher Report article, of all places, from 2 months ago to try to prove your point. So yeah, you pretty much did get your info from hell.
You can argue all U want and U seem to enjoy it. The article is from two month ago as that was the latest I could find. To argue against my point U should find something more updated as U were the one who stated they were all gone by the time our genius GM decided to draft a a wr who had a history of injuries. The article shows he had options other than the one we chose. And the article is from Bleacher report not hell. Have a nice and peaceful holiday..
Haha you also have a nice holiday. Bleacher report is hell. It's just a bunch of fans writing articles, though they're not any worse than most beat writers. And I gave you later information. Look up the game logs of the players I listed. My list of WRs was in the order they were drafted. Almost all were before our guys. So I stand by by argument. I don't need an article to prove my point. Watch the games and watch how these guys have closed out the season. The pace was the most bogus numbers ever. They took a small subset and said they'd continue it over the season. Evans was a huge part of 3 games and that's it. OBJ is clearly way better than anyone else at this point. Watkins has been decent. Everyone else has either gotten hurt or tailed off. So no, providing an article written by a fan 2 months ago with bogus stat paces is not relevant. That's all I'm saying. This draft class for WRs is no different than any other. Swap the guys we drafted with other players available at our picks, and we'd be talking about how good Jalen Saunders is and how much of a bust Moncrief, or Cooks, or Lee, or Matthews, or anyone else is.
so these are the receivers picked after teh jets 1st round and before they picked up a receiver. I liked Cooks and Benjamin, Lee, even Latimer. idzick had extra picks and did squat with them what the idzik supporters should be answering is not why did not pick a wide receiver but why does our picks after the second round fail to even gt on the field? I do not trust the gm to make the right pick he needs to go along with Rex. He could have package picks and moved up to grab a receiver but he would have screwed that pooch also. The guy can't draft and refuses to sign free agents to make up for the lack of impact from his bad drafts Brandin Cooks WR Oregon State 1 20(20) New Orleans Kelvin Benjamin WR Florida State 1 28(28) Carolina Marqise Lee WR USC 2 7(39) Jacksonville Jordan Matthews WR Vanderbilt 2 10(42) Philadelphia Paul Richardson WR Colorado 2 13(45) Seattle Davante Adams WR Fresno State 2 21(53) Green Bay Cody Latimer WR Indiana 2 24(56) Denver Allen Robinson WR Penn State 2 29(61) Jacksonville Jarvis Landry WR LSU 2 31(63) Miami Josh Huff WR Oregon 3 22(86) Philadelphia Donte Moncrief WR Mississippi 3 26(90) Indianapolis John Brown WR Pittsburg State 3 27(91) Arizona
Plenty of people were happy with Pryor. Me? I wanted Cooks, Lee, or Matthews. I think the jury's still out on ALL of those players, including Pryor. At the time, I hated the pick of Pryor because I don't understand the need for an in-the-box, hard hitting safety in a league that is going in the opposite direction. I didn't want Amaro either. But here we are, and I'm one of the only people defending this draft, because we only have 1 year in the books with these guys and people make out all of the above WRs to be superstars when absolutely none of them are (yet). As I've stated, if we ended up with any of those guys, they'd probably look like busts on our team as well. Put OBJ on this team, and even he probably looks like a bust. The truth is, everything revolves around the QB. Until we have a good one, our team's not going to be good. I had hope that Geno could be that guy. He shows flashes once in a while, but it's once in a long while. I think his ceiling is to be a solid backup QB (same as Mark's ceiling).
Its time to replace Bradway to ,how in the name of GOD does this guy still have a job ?He must have a video of Woody throwing kittens into a wood chipper
True I really liked cooks but we have what we have. but reasons like the above and poor free agency combined is the reason why idzik should go. If it was the draft I could say give him time but when you look at free agency and the way teh corner situation was handled it is just dreadful
The way I look at myself is that I'm not necessarily on Idzik's side. I do think people could have done better and things don't look great right now. But I'm also not opposed to him staying. I think he could have done more with the draft picks and I'm disappointed with how they were used. I'm not at all disappointed with his lack of spending in FA. I don't think the goal is to field a semi-competitive team, which is what I think spending on a CB in free agency would have done. I've always preached my thoughts that you need a QB, an OL, and a pass rush since it is my opinion that all NFL success revolves around the QB. So until we have those pieces locked up, I think spending on CBs is a fruitless exercise that might get you another win or two. FA should be used more to fill those big roles or to get the final pieces when you're right there. A team like ours should be building through the draft, and in theory, having 12 picks was a dream scenario. Again, I'm not thrilled with his drafts so far. But he's got a lot of money rolled over for FA, so I hope if he spends in FA, that it's at those positions I just mentioned. I hope we can find difference makers in the draft this time around. I don't see the other-worldly talent that everyone else seems to see in the 2014 rookie WR class, and I think in our current situation, any one of those players would have looked like trash and we'd be flaming Idzik for investing highly in a WR who busted. I just see it as Idzik took us out of a bad cap situation and gives us financial flexibility moving forward. The problem is that, if he does stick around, he's now feeling the pressure to spend, spend, spend. He didn't overspend on FAs when our team was not in a position to thrive anyway. He thought he had Milliner and McDougle at least (not saying that's great, but it's a better situation on paper than what we have now). He thought out of grabbing 3 WRs, all of whom were legitimate draft prospects, that someone would have done something (can we please start blaming Lal for not being able to develop ANYONE?). I think our team over the last few years had given us false hope with garbage wins. I think we've been more lucky than good. To lose those games now looks worse than it is. Just like before things looked better than they actually were. I don't think this team is worse off, I think he took a calculated gamble with Geno (Mark's showing he's just a good backup anyway), he's taken a few head-scratcher picks but for the most part, people have been pretty okay with his drafts the day after so far. And I think fans overreact to how some of these players have performed in their rookie years. I think if he stays or goes, it's not really the wrong decision. But I think the heat he has gotten from fans has been unwarranted.
