    I sure hope not.
It's a lesser defense imo and will require a lot of different personnel in the front 7.
We shouldn't be wasting time changing and instead focus more on building the offense and pass rush.

Also Josh Allen is made for the 3-4 and I hope we draft him.

Pagano would make a better interim HC once Gase is fired mid season.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Pagano is a 3-4 guy, Joseph has experience in both. And like it or not, the personnel are set up for 3-4. Because of that, and because of all the drama queens in this fanbase, the pressure to win right away might lead them to just stick with the 3-4 instead of going through the growing pains of switching

I just hope their base alignment is established around personell and not another square-peg meets round hole scenario.... ala Mangini

Only game I really watched him was the recent Bowl game and he seems pretty nasty. I want a major investment in the O-line, but I'd be pretty happy with that pick

I honestly like the Gregg Williams pick if he gets the job.

I'm gonna give Gase a chance. He might surprise us all.

They would be hiring him as a coordinator, not head coach.

Not if Joseph is the hire.

Seems like it. Something I pointed to needing to do a while ago.

I know. Gase is the head coach. Greg Williams for the d cordinator. That'd help me feel better about this hire.

I think the personnel we have now can switch without too much trouble. Williamson and Lee at Mike and will.
Williams is a natural 3t . Shepherd at nt.still need ends ,but we need those to play olb in a 3-4 and hope something out of luvu,Copeland, Jenkins can play sam or even put there hand down as an end.

    Yep Joseph can run either.
Williams also runs a bit of a hybrid and is heavily influenced by Buddy Ryan aggressive style of D.

In any event the coaches should adapt to the personnel available to maximize what we have.
    I hate inflexible coaching schemes.

If we go to the 4-3 who stays and goes.

    1. Dlinemen will be fine. Someone like Henry Anderson though might walk in free agency. He's a 3-4 end.
    2. My bigger questions are the linebackers. Is Jordan Jenkins a d-end then? Do we let Darron Lee go and can Avery Williamson play middle linebacker? I think he can.
    3. Dbackfield should be fine too.

Be interesting to see the new lineman and linebackers we have.

Imo we don't have a sideline to sideline MLB
I don't think we have OLBs for it.
Anderson would be wasted and I think Williams best in a hybrid style like we currently play.
It would just create too many holes without any real benefit.

I'm sure he can run either but his 1 season as a DC he primarily ran a 3-4 and his 2 years as a HC Denver primarily ran a 3-4 as well.
One bright spot is his experience as a DB coach. Maybe he can get some return on the T Johnson investment and who ever else gets picked up in free agency.

    He's got the football chops.
Needs to majorly alter his approach though.

Would love Williams as the DC. He's certifiably insane, but he'll bring an edge to the defense that it hasn't had since the first couple of years of Rex's tenure. Could very easily see him cultivating two-teams within one atmosphere like the '80s Bears with Ditka & Buddy Ryan, but I see that as a good thing for this particular group. You can call yourself "New Jack City" or whatever else you want, but spare for Jamal Adams, I don't think anyone on this Jets defense is "feared" or planned for by the rest of the league.

Also had reservations about Williams after the "bounty" suspension, but subsequently less so after hearing reports and former players on other teams (even guys like Bart Scott) saying that all teams had bounties of one sort or another (set by coaches, other players, etc.) with respect to taking out other teams' best players physically and/or on the stat line. In other words, I didn't like it. I still don't like it. On the other hand, the pearl-clutching by the league and those reporting on the sport about it at the time seems hollow in light of what we know now seems to have been a not uncommon practice.

In short, I'm undecided on the Gase hire, but I'd be optimistic about the Jets defense if they are able to bring Williams in here.

Id be ok with Williams or Joseph.
Pagano could be interesting as well.

Which means none of them will be the choice
