A punctured lung is not a career threatening injury for a WR. You can fully recover from it. I'd be more concerned if he'd torn his Achilles or was 34 and not 31.
BPA baby!!! Put all the needs away and keep addressing the only position that is set for the next 15 years. All about that D-Line action.
NE has the best QB in the league that covers for deficiencies elsewhere, their secondary is gone, their WRs are meh at best but they have Gronk to cancel that out they are far from the most talented team in the league
Are you just being ignorant for laughs or do you truly believe what you're saying is what a real life GM thinks?
I'm not happy with how the board played out, but not upset with the pick. I respect that they actually went with BPA rather than just paying it lip service like most teams do. If you look at all the first round picks, we are really the only team to go BPA. I posted last week that if this worst case scenario happened, I would pick Williams if we could not trade down because the value was too good to pass on. It just sucks as a Jets fan, that the worst case scenario came to fruition.
That's sort of my point. It's about building a team that can win, not about loading up on pro bowlers regardless of your roster composition and needs.
We draft a kid who's probably one of the five best football players in the country. He's versatile enough to fit into a 3-4 or a 4-3 scheme and can line up anywhere along the D line during a game ... And did exactly that at USC. He's also a bright kid, and by all accounts has good character. Yeah ... Awful pick. This fan base is a friggin' hoot. The reason this team didn't score last year wasn't because of the receivers. It was because of the QB. Winston and Mariota were long gone when it was our turn to pick. Marshall, Decker, Kerley and Amaro are more than good enough if the QB play improves. What did you guys want to do? ... Draft a RB with the 6th pick? This was a no brainer.
Everyone should love this pick...whos gonna throw Kevin Jerry Rice White the ball? This kid is a fucking gamer
He may be the best defensive player in this draft so that kind of statement truly means something. Will we see more 4-3? Sure, I hope Bowles was lying and it does become our base because this pick is just stupid if not. Who are we taking off the field so he can play in a 3-4? Snacks, Mo, Sheldon? You don't take a rotational player at 6 when you have 2 of the best at that position already. The debate to switch to 4-3 makes sense but we already had a core of 4 lineman for that when throwing in Coples. One of those situations when Need comes before BPA.
I trust Bowles in that he'll find a way to get everyone involved, even if it means running a 4-3. You can't say Bowles is/was lying. Bowles couldn't have known we'd draft Williams.
Bears were obviously hot for Kevin White. Maybe he tried and failed, but Macc could have told Bears GM he was gonna take White and at least got another 4th rounder out of it and then taken Williams at #7.
So they didn't study him or have a plan for him if he slipped? They brought him in on a visit 2 weeks ago. The idea wasn't just brought up tonight.
After I saw MM was not gonna be here, at first I didn't care who we picked. Now after the initial disappointment I'm very excited that they picked the Big Cat. It killed some buzz for fans because of perceived needs, and the glamour WR or buzz Pass Rusher, but this guy has just as good a chance to be a Pass Rusher as anyone. This guy grades out as one of the top two players in the draft, everywhere. Take the QB's out and it's not close.
I'm assuming they did. Maybe they didn't believe he'd fall to #6. Bowles probably said how the defense would be without taking into account what we'd do at the draft. Now that we drafted Williams, I'm sure Bowles will adjust.
