Who gives a shit about bulletin board material. Its so overrated. Do the Patsies need that stuff to get up for us week 2? I doubt it. I'd like to think that we beat them last time we played them would be more of a factor.
I want every player on roster thinking the same thing. There are 32 other teams with most players also believing the same thing.
Nothing guarantees anything in the NFL, but the game starts up front. You live, or you die, up front. Those guys have a BIG say on whether or not you make it to the big game.
Oh, not to bring up bad memories, but the last time I heard SB talk this early on, Vinnie blew out his Achilles in game 1.
I'm a "conservative" football guy at heart. I believe in respecting your opponent, a ball control offense, avoiding turnovers and winning in the trenches. I normally cringe at things like this. But ya know what? Good for Brick. This team has been reserved and afraid to be great, basically since Klecko/Gastineau hung it up. It's about time they showed some attitude and some confidence.Playing in the AFC east, in the NY market w/ historical figures like Namath and Gastineau, there's no hiding from anyone. It's about time we finally said "We aren't going anywhere, so bring it".
No, we sucked pretty awful in the end last year. Heart breaking season to be honest because we should have been in a good position to make a hard run at it.
maybe this will show all the doom and gloom jets fans that they actually have to believe once in awhile-- be confident and proud of your team..
BUT HE'S NOT BEING REALISTIC!!! WAAAH! Seriously, those of you bitching about it, shut the hell up. I love the confidence. The people criticizing him are taking his comment way too seriously. No fan of any team goes in expecting wholeheartedly to win the Super Bowl. They just feel confident in their team's chances. If Brick feels good about this team, and feels there's a chance, he's going to play his ass off to make the most of that opportunity. Relax, people. I like to see this kind of comment, and there's no harm in letting him say it.
I would say that normally this kind of talk would be blasphemy... but in the case of the Jets, what they REALLY needed with their first round pick this year was swagger and attitude, and it appears they filled that position with Rex Ryan's approach and philosophy. Even if this isn't the year for the Jets, it's beautiful to see that they've been deprogrammed and are actually going to play like a real football team again. I don't see how anyone can't see that the Jets are moving in the right direction.
Exactly. I love to see the swagger, and I love to see a guy who came across as a bit timid for the first few years of his career suddenly breaking out with that kind of passion. There's absolutely no harm done in being confident. Even in the highly likely event that we don't win the Super Bowl this year, his comment was a great one.
Any player that doesn't believe his team will win the Superbowl at this point in the season should just hang up his cleats and retire. He's no longer playing to win but only playing for a paycheck.
Well if you don't want to be excited for the Jets season, there's always space in the Patriots and Steelers' bandwagon, and they want you!
Love the attitude, brick seems like he has got an edge and swagger to him now that will hopefully translate on the field. I think the edge and swagger were missing the first two years, because he is physically gifted and really can be the best tackle in football.
Glad to see they finally found that guy they drafted from the podium at the Combine. I remember his "I'm my QB's bodyguard" comment at the Combine. Now we have a more talkative offense. I like it.
