I'm sure that they talk and probably make mutual decisions most of the time, but I'm pretty sure that Douglas has final say-so over the roster. Like most GMs, he's going to err on the side of helping the HC and giving him what he wants for a time. If the HC proves to be constantly wrong with what he wants, then the GM will soon stop giving him what he wants and do what he knows to be right, but at least initially he has to work with that HC and make some compromises so the relationship doesn't go south.
Just like I'm sure JD had the final say throwing Becton out there when he was injured and all of the other injury missmanagements ? Lol if him and Gase came to that decision together, he's just as much of a fucking moron as Gase is so I really don't know which one is better. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
No. You obviously don't understand anything. The HC determines who starts, who plays, and how much they play. The GM determines who is on the roster.
Than why did they push for Ballage to be on the roster when there were a bunch of other guys out there who were a better option, because he was a Gase guy. So if Gase has a say to who's on the roster than why can't douglas have a say in not playing his injured first round pick?? Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Please answer because I am desperate to find out from someone who doesn't even watch the Jets but yet understands how everything works. I need to be enlightened Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Dumbass. There are certain basics about how the NFL works and how team org charts work. I've been watching the NFL for over 50 years, and I watch the Jets when they're on. I now have DirecTV so I can see every game. Blow it out your ass, moron!
So instead of answering the question you deflect and Insult lol. So I guess what your saying is Gase has the power to tell JD who he wants on the roster but JD doesn't have the power to tell Gase to sit Becton?? Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
I think this is a big misconception when talking about injuries though. The training staff has the best interest of the players over the team, specifically to avoid negligent lawsuits over botching injury situations. And this isn't directly necessarily at you, just in general. If Becton was able to go and there was no serious risk of further injury (sprain turning into a grade 3 tear for surgery, etc.) and it becomes a pain management thing, then it's a collective decision of the player and the training staff. The biggest exaggeration I've seen by Jets fans (live on Twitter and what not) during the Broncos game was that Gase and/or Douglas were putting the Jets two franchise players at risk or something. Players play hurt all the time. Shoulder sprains, tight hamstrings, etc. They try to give it a go if there's no serious permanent risk. Teams own fans who have it out for the franchise like us Jets fans do try to find everyone else to blame rather than being realistic about the fact that players will try to blame if the training staff OK's it. It's not like the head coach says rub some dirt on it and get out there without medical professionals giving their opinions.
I get all that and it makes sense. But if Becton wasent healthy enough to start he shouldn't have played it's as simple as that. Now Darnold on the other hand is different it happened in game, They gave him a shot probly didn't have a lot of pain, the swelling didn't see in yet and said he was good to go Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Or maybe it was the kids first professional injury and they were holding him out to be cautious and give him a little bream but he was available as it was a pain management issue. OR they felt he might be less effective while hurt. It could be a number of things. It not just automatically head coach and front office negligence. For a coach a lot of time it's as simple as a question to the training staff as "can he go or not?" Gase and Douglas aren't in the training room doing MRI's and shoulder stretches man.
Whatever the case is, he was injured on a short week and you played him anyway. And yes it might have been his first professional injury but why risk making it worse? As it stands he's got no strength in his arm and he might not play this week. To me it was unnecessary to play your best player on your offense at this point to try an beat the broncos Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Didn’t he go off on the jets for cutting him? Thank God we actually didn’t give up anything for this circus animal. But what does it say about Gase and JD that they-albeit a 7-wanted to give up a pick for him? And he lasted 1 week, and Gase knew him prior to?
It tells you a lot about Gase but worryingly it is screaming something else about JD, if JD isn't the man then we are fucked for a long time to come.
In general, the function of pain is to communicate to the organism not to use the area that is in pain. I trust mother nature far more than I trust the NYJ coaching staff and trainers.
Our training staff is definitely suspect, but at least our team doctor hasn't accidentally punctured the lung of one of our players (Tyrod Taylor with the Chargers). He has now lost his starting job thanks to that doctor.
Criticizing JD seems to be almost illegal here. He's a football guy who's worked with good people so it automatically makes him our savior, if we could just discount his shitty roster management, bargain bin free agents, questionable picks in the draft, letting Robby walk and being buddy buddy with Gase. But he hit on a first round pick so it's all good Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
