Backs are supposed to pass block when kept in on passing downs. I think they cut Ballage because he whiffed 2-3 times against the Broncos on blitzes and about got Darnold killed. Incredibly, on one play it appeared he was looking at the sideline when the blitzer ran right past him and hit Darnold. I just about jumped off the couch when I saw the replay.
Again, Gase did not get him, Douglas did. And again, Douglas signing Ballage was not a stupid signing. He gave up nothing and signed a guy who his head coach is familiar with. Gase decided to play him over Perine at every waking moment. That's Gase's ineptitude, not Douglas's
realize everyone, everywhere is frustrated with losing, but really....? Ballage getting signed and cut gets a thread, let alone this much negative energy and no real balance? Personally i saw some positive and negative plays from Ballage. For all we know his release is as much a consequence to Perrine getting more integrated and/or return of Bell there are a lot worse problems including holes all over the place, depth, poor play and coaching I by nature am more optimistic, so take that into account. But personally i think we should be grateful for this GM. His draft picks look solid (at least those who have played). Even Cager as an UDFA looked intriguing. GM is clearly planning things for the future, including conserving cap space, and amassing draft capital
I passed frustrated about 3 years ago. I'm so far past "frustrated" it isn't even funny..... I now select my football viewing (college and Pros) by how GOOD I think the game is going to be, not by who is actually playing. There's a first.....
No it isn't. That's ridiculous. GMs get players their HCs ask for. If they don't then the HC can claim that the GM isn't supporting him and helping him to win. That's even more true in an org chart like the Jets where the HC and GM are equals and both report to C. Johnson. The Jets needed to add a RB with Bell and Perine both hurt and the former Eagle RB (Josh Adams) coming off injury. Gase probably asked for Ballage since he knows the system, and another RB wouldn't have time to learn the system and plays, so wouldn't be able to help the team. Ballage made sense in that he knew the system, was young, big, fast, and cheap. He was a stopgap. He didn't cost the team anything. It's absurd to make a big deal of Ballage.
Frustrated? Hardly... Apathy set it back in 2015 or so and frustration was thankfully replaced by "show me" mode. Until I see something worth cheering about, I'm taking the passive, Extremely Long Range view. Toss up between Man landing on Mars and the Jets winning a SB. I'm betting on the Chinese...
It's not Kalen Ballage's fault that he was put in a shitty position to succeed. Blame JD or Gase for the disaster that is the runningback room and usage right now. I'd rather see Ballage out there giving it his full effort than Frank Gore with a maximum gain of 2 yards and usually a 1-2 yard loss. Gore should be here to block on third down. Everyone else should be running and catching the ball. We ran Gore on a fucking wheel into the end zone last week. What a joke.
I thought Ballage had some good runs. Did not look terrible. But in pass pro was not good! Maybe gase making Ballage the scapegoat for bad play against Indy, I.e. missed assignments, etc. Sending message. Which is wrong one of course. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lol. Funny thing is Gase so delusional that he actually thinks he sent a message to the team by cutting him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How about amassing some guys who can play the game? What is going on now, with a handful of exceptions is subtraction by subtraction. There are fewer players now than there were a year ago.
Yeah he had a brutal game. Good news it seems all the skill guys are finally healthy. Meanwhile other teams are decimated so here comes the win streak!
