So.. In the Giant game, he got no pt because the CS was looking at the starters and in the Washington game, he got no pt because the CS was worried about the O and forced the starters into the 4th qtr. Because he's not a starter, we evaluate him on what he didn't get a chance to do or what he did do when given a chance? I'm not so sure if that's a fair measuring stick to use. Given a level playing field (PHI), he outperformed JmK and didn't put the ball on the ground but because he wasn't a 4th rd dp, he got cut instead of "Mr. Upside".
I'm not talking about the statistical contribution of fourth receivers. I'm talking about back-ups. Who gets on the field if one of our guys gets injured? If the FO ditched Clowney for a wide receiver who could contribute on special teams, I'd be fine with that. But Turner is a practice squad body, nothing more, at this point. We need another wide receiver. It will be Coles within a few days, I think.
Yup I came to that conclusion a few posts later, but from what I hear he doesn't really know the playbook...
We are obviously exaggerating saying he doesn't know any of it, he's been in the system 2 years he definitely has some info. He just hasn't been as committed as he should have been.
Didn't Clowney say something about giving part of his paycheck to sign Revis? Well, now our chances of signing his are over.
Jets Cut Clowney He outperformed him (slightly) in holding onto the ball. He didn't exactly outplay him other than that, and he'll likely be sitting on the PS if we decide he's our best option in case of injury. McKnight is on the squad because he has the best chance of meaningful contribution in the future. The NFL isn't a one year game. Gotta consider the future.
I would have cut woodhead before clowney. Neither plays well on special teams and Clowney at least makes the safeties stay back when he is in the game.
He's been chillin with fellow TGG poster, NYJ2K10, the ENTIRE time. They both love Blue Bunny's Champ drumsticks and even went to the same barber. but seriously, you missed some funny photoshops in the Revis thread. I think it started on page 472
Why the fuck did we cut Washington? I'd rather him than McKnight. I don't care if he played against third stringers, he ran between tackles and ran hard. Put him behind our first string OL and I think he could have been a very solid backup if Greene went down.
I don't know if this was mentioned but could the Jets have picked up Turner to pick his brain about the Dolphins playbook? They did the same thing with O'Connell last year.
Apparently Washington's cut will be announced officially soon... http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2010/09/jets_claim_receiver_patrick_tu.html
