That's too bad about Washington as he would have made the perfect replacement for Greene when needed. As it is, now we're gonna have to hope like hell that Greene stays healthy.
I feel the same way. I would have liked to keep Washington over Woodhead, as he can also contribute on STs. I think he's still eligible for the PS, though.
At the very least, I'll miss the Clown's crazy tweets. Sucks that Washington got cut, he outplayed McKnight by a wide margin in every facet except punt returns.
No way he'll clear before being claimed by some RB hungry team somewhere Steve. I think the Jets may have fck'd up this time as I think CW will be a productive powerback in this league. I only hope it won't be in the AFCE.
They gave Clowney every opportunity to make this squad, and he just didn't step up. So it goes. I thought he was a standup guy, and good in the locker room, but if you're not gonna perform, you're gonna get cut. Little disappointed about Washington. Thought he did everything one person could possibly do to make the team. If they wanted Turner for info on the Dolphins, they could have got that from Taylor. I think they have plans for Turner on ST's.
Chauncey Washington sucked against third stringers. He's not a good player. I don't understand why so many of you think he's a solid running back. Running backs are a dime a dozen in this league.
He looked pretty good to me this preseason. At the very least, he was better than JmK but he's not a 4th round DP so he's gone. Like I said, he'll surface again somewhere as I still don't think he'll clear waivers without being claimed. Probably by Miami or NE knowing our luck.
Averaging 3.75 YPC and losing a fumble against 2nd/3rd stringers is everything someone could do to make a team? Chauncey Washington has been in the league for 3 years, has career stats of 4 carries for 9 yards. I don't think he's the star everyone's making him out to be.
That'd actually be pretty good luck if either of those teams wasted a roster spot on him. We must've been watching different games... Against NYG: No offensive stats Against CAR: 8 carries for 19 yards (2.4 YPC) and a fumble lost Against WSH: No offensive stats Against PHI: 12 carries for 56 yards (4.7 YPC) and 1 catch for 11 yards. Pre-Season Total: 20 carries for 75 yards (3.7 YPC) and 1 catch for 11 yards. ...he's gained 3.7 yards per carry against players that can't even make their team's practice squad. To me, that's not impressive at all.
Claims WR Patrick Turner – As Steiny noted earlier, the Jets have claimed Turner off waivers. DE Marcus Dixon – According to Dixon’s Twitter account, he has been signed by the Jets. Dixon was previously a member of the Dallas Cowboys when he joined the team in 2008 as an undrafted free agent. T Patrick Brown – Schefter reports that the Jets have claimed former Viking Patrick Brown off waivers. Brown went undrafted in 2009 and was picked up by the Panthers. Brown later joined the Patriots before heading to Minnesota. Waived WR David Clowney - After signing Turner, the Jets abruptly cut Clowney from the active roster. RB Chauncey Washington – According to Vrentas the Jets plan to waive Washington however they hope to re-sign him to the practice squad.
I don't consider him a star or anything, but I think right now he was the 3rd best back on the Jets roster. I thought he would contribute on special teams mostly this year, and it seems like Westoff already has his work cut out for him.
Throw out the games he didn't play in. Against CAR, nobody did anything except LT. Against PHI, he had his best game and far outshined JmK. Its a moot point now anyway as he's not a Jet anymore.
That could be a dangerous situation come November/December when the weather gets nasty. I'm just hoping that by then, LT wouldn't have been used too much and still has some gas left. We'll see just how much "ground and pound" we'll be doing when the weather gets colder..
Fair enough, I'm not sure Washington will ever be a great back, but he did offer something that doesn't show up on a statline. Good ST play. He worked really hard on punt/kickoff coverage. And for whatever it's worth, he ran hard with the ball when the coaches gave him a chance.
