Okay so Gostkowski attempted 13 and Graham has attempted 4. That still means the Pats have attempted 17 FG's while the Jets have attempted 30. It's still a valid argument. Why are we attempting so many FG's with the talent we have?

Because our Quarterback isn't Tom Brady, and throws interceptions, doesn't get ridiculous penalty calls, and just isn't as good as Brady yet.

Also, Folks Kickoffs are short, I crnge when i see the guy stand on the 10 yard line, but either we have the most amazing special teamers in the league, or Folks kicks really hang in the air for quite some time (Maybe this is why his FG's refuse to hook sometimes?), You see more Jets in the picture when the Jets kick off then any team in the league

Placement kicks are a hell of a weapon. If he gets decent hang time on his kickoffs, it gives the coverage team a ton of time to get down there and hit the return man before he gets to the 20.

I understand the kickoffs. I'm very concerned with his accuracy after last week's game - especially after the near miss on the XP.

Personally, I'm starting to wonder if Jason Taylor has been worth cutting Jay Feely. Taylor has had some key sack but Feely was money last year.
On a more relevant note, I think Reed is the best option right now. Folk has been garbage for multiple games now and this does not bode well for when the weather's going to get shitty or for big moments.

Brady's been ridiculous in the redzone this season. Unlike the Jets offense. Which is surprising, I thought Shonn Greene and LT would be far more effective in the redzone than they have been.

As long as we do not overreact and draft a kicker next year I will be happy.

Didn't read the entire thread but it's obvious he has a tired leg.
He had it in past seasons.
It's evident on his KO's all of a sudden only reaching the 10-15 yeard line when he was booming deep into the EZ early in the season.

    OTN,
My leg would be tired too....
We want TD's not FG's...throw it in the damn Endzone!!!

I stand corrected. He was still very good in the regular season and has missed 1 FG in Arizona this season. All I'm saying is with all the talk about the Jets need for a pass rusher and Folk's play thus far, the decision to cut Feely may be a blemish on Tannenbaum's otherwise stellar record.

That's what I was saying in the rest of my post that you didn't quote. ;)

I honestly think Folk is out best option. Up until the browns game, he had hit almost every field goal, and he helped carry us to a win vs the Vikes. The guy deserves a chance.

Cutting Feely netted us JT, who has been instrumental in our wins vs the Pats and the Dolphins.

Yep, I still think there are a few who don't realize why Feely was cut...

Please stop, he was not instrumental in either. he beat a FB for an early sack against Miami and up 14 w/ a few mins left against NE he sacked Brady. We win those games w/ or w/o him.

Even if that were true, that won't mean a thing if folk blows a 30-yard field goal attempt with 5 seconds to go down by 2 in the AFC championship

He missed one makeable kick, early in the game. He was great all year and the kick he made against SD was HUGE, it was not a chip shot and if he msises and we come away w/ no pts on that drive we aren't winning that game most likely.

He missed a 52 yard field goal inside. It gave Peyton Manning a short field.

A 52 yard field goal in a dome is makeable for a professional kicker.

I don't know how anyone can honestly say they wouldn't rather have Feely than Folk at this point. I never worried about Feely making a kick. I always worry about Folk.

It is nice to have Taylor, he has made a positive impact contrary to Junc's silly arguments.

It's makeable but at a low %, that was a dumb decision to go for it there but manning was tearing us apart anyway. Anything over 50 is not automatic, anything over 45 isn't automatic. Anything 45 and under should be automatic.

Taylor is great, I don't know where we would be w/o him:rolleyes:
