c'mon guys, when I said non-factor I obviously meant non-clay matthews. Get off the short bus, act like adults and use some common sense.
My head is going to explode- do you guys watch the Jets play? Possibly, if he makes that kick against GB we might win that game and he nearly cost us against Cleveland. How has the gamble paid off? we are looking for new Ks w/ a month to go in the season and we have no pass rush? He's done a good job w/ everything but rushing the passer. The tiny little problem is the sole reason he was brought here was to rush the passer. when has he pressured the QB all year? You just cannot make this stuff up. Where are the intelligent football fans? There's not an intelligent fan on the planet that thinks Taylor has done a good job rushing the passer this year but what would I expect from a bunch of guys who think Joe McKnight is doing well:rofl:
Possibly? Are you fucking kidding? You say Jay Feely didn't cost us the AFCCG against Indianapolis with two misses, but Nick Folk "possibly" cost us a win against Green Bay. We lost 9-0, not 9-7. Nearly isn't good enough junc. He hasn't lost us a game yet.
That game was 3-0 in the 4th qtr. if he makes that kick it is 3-3 and the game completely changes. It was a game dictated by the weather and was very low scoring. Missing out on 3 pts was HUGE. Feely missed one kikc he should have made in a game we needed to score TDs not kick FGs. if he makes BOTH of those kicks we are very likely to still lose.
The rock solid sources were from Wikipedia. I don't know why people don't agree with the source. Wikipedia is nearly as true as the Bible.
Your the one making stuff up. Pointing out positive contributions he has made when the given the opportunity is doing just that. You are weighing your opinion heavily on what he did months ago. I am choosing to assume that he has been working to correct his mistakes and I am looking for evidence of that. Being praised by your coach in a press conference when you haven't seen the field all year is a good thing. Being trusted to play a meaningful position on special teams when an injury occurs is a good thing. Doing his job well when given the opportunity is a good thing. Nobody was impressed with his preseason but that is long in the past for everyone that doesn't feel like complaining about the guy. He started off poorly but by all possible accounts has shown improvement since then. What is so wrong with expecting that to continue? With that said, you keep dealing with your absolutes while the rest of us hang out somewhere in the middle. Come join us sometime!
Folk sucks. Dont defend him when he is a bottom 3 kicker in football right now (stats dont lie). I dont think its worth the risk to give him a chance costing us a meaningful game down the stretch / in the playoffs.
There's something wrong when a guy is so bad at his position that people get excited b/c the guy blocking him on a PR had a ball glance off him.
It was a kicker that we let go. We got Folk, who hasn't been as reliable, but we also got a good pass rusher. I don't how you discredit JTs play. He had a few good sacks and some really good pressures when needed. He also had several tipped passes in the last game. I guess they don't count either.
I just have to know what games you guys have been watching? Taylor is not generating any pass rush. Again, he's done well against the run which is nice but he was brought here to rush the passer and he hasn't been doing that well. He has 4 sacks: -Up 14 in the final mins vs. NE, also forced a fumble. w/ Brady he could ahve come back but we were up 14 but I'll say big play -at Miami on a 2nd 8 early in the game matched up w/ a FB. He would have 30 sacks if he was matched up w/ a FB all the time. Not a big deal -vs. Minny up 9 w/ a minute to play near midfield and Minny had no TOs. Not a big deal. -In OT at Cle where the QB was only trying to get out of the EZ and get down to keep the clock moving- he did nothing special there. I can live w/ 4 sacks if he was getting pressure but he is not, he is NEVER around the QB. I never see him hurrying a QB. I am not asking to cut him, I think if he makes a big play down the stretch that makes up for everything but so far he's been a MAJOR disappointment as a PASS RUSHER.
What? As usual you take quite a few liberties telling me what my opinion is. Excited? who is excited? It is positive progress, however much you want to diminish that is your choice but what he has shown on special teams the last few weeks is that he can do what is asked of him. Why are you talking about the ball that hit the guy in the head? did McKnight recover that? I don't even know because that is the last play I am referencing when I say he has made positive contributions. That was just a weird play all around. Every special teams return the Bengals had on thanksgiving I saw McKnight on the screen. He was putting himself in position to make good plays when given the opportunity how hard is that to see as a good thing? Going back to the games before that he was around or in on the plays too. That's really all I can ask of a guy who is only seeing the field on special teams. When he is given an opportunity to get carries in a game I will judge his performance based on that, not what he did in August. Until then keep throwing him under the bus with the classic I hope I'm wrong disclaimer... I really love it when people think that makes their opinions less stupid when the player proves them wrong.
Folk missed one FG under 19 yards. That' an abberation... He also missed one between 20 to 29 yards. That too in my opinion is an abberation. If you take away those two misses he's 24 of 30 in FG's. That is basically the same as every other top kicker in the league. Akers on Philly for example is 24 of 29, and Janikowski on Oakland is 24 of 31. We need to stop freaking out over this because it's a distraction and because it stands to affect the playing of Folk for the negative. I mean I really don't think putting a whole lot of pressure on the guy is going to yield the desired effect do you? It's too late to change, so just work with the guy and try to take as much pressure off him as you can. If the coaches freak out and the fans freak out maybe it will cause him to freak out too. He's a good kicker. He's been a good kicker all year for us and has had a few misses that's all. Let's just work with him and stop making too much out of it.
reed was bad in big spots last year and horrible all around this year. his kickoffs have always been bad, his best day expect the kickoff to go to the 10. hes absolutely horrible at kickoffs always has been. then throw in his legal troubles, him blaming the media, steelers ownership and the fans for him sucking and thats why hes unemployed
