Word. I mean we saw Romo do it in Dallas amirite?!?!!? And junc, where'd you get that "Brett has twice the talent on O" argument from? I mean we've got talent...but it's not like the Phins don't... And even if they didn't, I still wouldn't want Chad back.
Can we just move the fuck on please? I'm still not in love with the old QB. We broke up, I moved on - there is someone new in my life. Get over it. If Chad is so important - Do what the Packer fans who moved here did and move with Chad. Go to a Fins board. I'm tired of these bullshit arguments. Will it take Chad to retire before everyone shuts up. He will be a backup in 3 years like Brad Johnson is now, and Testaverde became and so on. Its the circle of life in football - get over it.
Only 5 of Favre's picks came in losses. 3 of Penningtons did. So we can stop making a big deal of picks. It's meaningless in this discussion.
So if a receiver happened to fall over and the ball got picked off as a result, you wouldn't blame Favre would you?
LOL, that's funny - when I wrote a few weeks back about how sad it was that the Meadowlands was half empty in the middle of the 4th quarter and the game still undecided, and how you'd never see that at Lambeau, the line I got was "well that's all you guys have is football there, here there are other things to do and people need to leave early to get to them." Now I guess we don't have anyone with the time to think about football Tell me, just how hard would it be to "dig" for the story "Is the old or new QB better?" IMO writing that story does not require ANY effort, in fact writing it says to me you're too lazy to look for a REAL story. I'm not sure I understand this. People in Green Bay think we'd be better off with Favre and that is not a controversy, but an argument that dumping Pennington for Favre has changed absolutely nothing is a big controversy? "It had no effect" is a huge statement that it was a bad idea? Huh? I think you were a lot closer with your first point -- that in NY you guys just like to stir things up for the sake of stirring them up, even if it is pointless and irrelevant.
I think Chad is great and I'll root for him when he's not playing the Jets. But when the weather gets worse his lack of arm will show up. Also if we didn't get Farve there is a good chance he might have ended up with the Pats after Brady went down. Also I agree that Chad probably would've been hurt by one of the hits Farve took in the past few weeks.
That's not what I'm saying. There's a lot more media here than there, that's a fact. That causes writers to dig for more angles and stories to compete with one another, thus to write about shit that doesn't really need to be written about. You missed my point here, too. A lot of people here assumed bringing Favre in to replace Pennington would be a huge upgrade, leading to a much better team. So halfway through the season, obviously some writers feel it's newsworthy that the big "upgrade" has possibly not resulted in any more wins than we would have had. By contrast, in Green Bay most fans would expect a drop-off with Favre gone and that's what you've gotten. Therefore, nothing that wasn't expected so no surprise at how it's turned out so far. As I said before, that was a guess. I don't live out there so I can't get in the minds of your media.
Actually, I disagree with that, but that doesn't belong here. I understand the rest of your points, but I still think what I think, that its really a symptom of these sports writers you have being lazy and mediocre, and feeding fans that obsess over things that are said and done, making that obsession pointless.
Pennington screwed the pooch because of pressure. He was starring right down the barrell of it and should never have thrown it instead he throws a lateral into a play that was already blown up at the LOS.
Rosevelt Colvin lined up so close to the line of scrimmage that he could deflect and almost intercept a backwards lateral. How in the H**L can a LB line up that close to the Line of scrimmage to get to a backwards lateral to knock it away. That is the ULTIMATE sign of disrespect for your QB's arm and apperently his alleged smarts for not checking out of that play. It was a fumble wilfork picked up but the point is how weak is your arm that a BACKWARDS lateral can be even touched. That never happens in professional football. Except to Chad because no other Qb would ever get disrespected to that degree. NONE!!!!!!
You're probably right. Just because we have more media doesn't mean they are any good. If anything there's too many, meaning there's too many hacks. Regarding what's going on in Green Bay, I'm not going to argue with you about that, I have no idea. Like I keep saying, that part was a guess.
Let's see Chad play at a high level for 16 games - something he's never done - and then decide who got the best deal.
I was going to say "what about 06?" But the high level is what makes me reserve that statement. Its wasn't quite elite high level, but it was good enough..... I personally am tired of good enough.
He threw that Pick into double coverage, if Cotch remianed on his feet it still probably would have been picked. Give me a break.
This is the most ridiculous article ever. Does anyone really think that we would have scored as many points as we have with Chad instead of Brett. When was the last time we lead the AFC East in points! When was the last time we were 2nd in the AFC in points scored! Anyone really think that would be possible with Chad at QB!
Right because people never throw balls into double coverage. I'm sorry....people named Chad Pennington don't. That's what's great about Favre, is he can whip the ball into tight spots. So can Chad, except Chad has to schedule an appointment with the receiver for two weeks down the road for the ball to get there.
We never win the AZ game, the KC game, or the Bills game with Chad at the helm. Never. 99% certainty.
