it was reported by multiple sources that the johnsons only pay $4-5 million per year for a coach. one article flatly stated that woody would not pay $7 million or more for harbaugh. if you are mike mac, with GB owes you money on a contract, why would you take the jets job for less than $7 million? especially with chucky getting $10 million from the raiders!
If the Johnsons are unwilling to be the highest bidder for McCarthy's services then they are simply not interested in winning. Simple as that. If it's going to take 7 million then pay the man 7 million. Not the time to be cutting corners when we have a young QB and cap space That article btw is a Manish Mehta article
They met with him last night and they had him at the facility today He was not going to get an offer immediately. But I'd expect the Jets to make an offer sometime this week. They do have other guys scheduled I believe But they have spent the most time with McCarthy over any of the other candidates
If you & I know about Sam & his demeanor & Bakers ego don't you think Mccarthy knows without meeting Sam what he's getting into as Jets HC.
I get a great feeling that you are going to be so disappointed when they name this coach, more so if you keep hoping for one of the H bro's joining.
I disagree. The reason Mangini was fired was that he was too secretive and didn't keep Woody informed of what he wanted/planned to do. Also, I believe that trades and FA signings have to be approved. For all we know, the Johnsons could have ordered Mac to draft certain players (or anyone that Bowles wanted).
I listened to a Cleveland guy on sportsradio this morning and he was like a beat writer and even he has uncertainty about McCarthy's interview with Cleveland. He didn't seem to think McCarthy was a serious candidate for them
The Jets have an interview scheduled with Todd Monken on Tuesday, and supposedly really want to speak to Kris Richard. If Dallas loses on Sunday, then Richard could possibly be available this coming week. If Dallas wins or if Richard isn't available this coming week, will the Jets forget about Richard, or will they wait? We may have a decision by Tuesday or Wednesday, but it could be another week or so.
So they had nothing to do with the Tebow debacle? The brett favre acquisition was something they heard about as a surprise like the rest of us? When they host predraft visits and a member of the Johnson family attends, he's just there to enjoy the business trip. I'm skeptical
