Lol I'm not saying that they need a punter or that this means they won't pick one up for sure, but I would have expected them to seem/be more concerned with bringing in competition for P than for PK, so I was surprised.
I'm not sure if this kid has much of a shot. He wasn't very effective as a pass rusher in college. He's got great height for the position, but he needed to gain a lot of weight if he wants to make it in this league. In my opinion, Kevin Basped has a better chance to land a roster spot.
Wes Lyons is a tough mother fucker: We might have a nice little competition between Lyons and Cumberland. This is a pretty good video about Lyons:
i'm backkkkkkk.... a few things: "At the Pro Timing Day recently at Illinois, Cumberland ran 4.46 in the 40, was credited with an impressive 35.5" in the vertical leap and bench pressed 225 pounds 20 times" source: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1115107 & for wes. "Wes Lyons was the biggest surprise. At 6′8″ 231 pounds Wes is a mountain of a wideout. I clocked his 40 times at 4.61 and 4.67 and his short shuttle at 4.12 and 4.19 which shows great COD skills. The most impressive thing about him was how so he could be the perfect Go-route WR. Some of his other routes were a little rounded off but not terrible. His agent told me that before the workout he was measured to have 36″ arms and a 41.5″ vertical jump." source: http://draftbreakdown.com/report-from-west-virginia-pro-day i feel that cumberland has the physical tools to be a great h-back, ala rosario from carolina; but we already have that in dustin keller. i'm looking forward the offseason, OTAs, and camp where these two in particular will compete for a spot... its good to be back.
You must have missed my posts. Which pretty much said that is where he will be put and become what Ms.Rhodes never did.
Our special teams should be great with guys like this filling out the roster maybe even Seminal candidates(do we still call it that) blocking wise............surprised though that the Cumberland kid was told he can't play wideout running a 4.46 but Lyons was never changed at the Draft. Other than Warren, who has the best chances of sticking???
Albert Toeaina, OT, 6-5, 329, Tennessee; Simi Toeaina, NT, 6-2, 307, Oregon Anyone seeing the similarity?
They're cousins. Bears' defensive tackle Matt Toeaina is Simi's older brother. Good blood lines, huh? Side note: Albert has been playing in the CFL for a year. A lot like another try-out Marlon Lucky, he's not a rookie.
I wouldn't be shocked if both did. Stewart is a Rex Ryan type of guy. All he needs is an NFL strength and conditioning program. I'm giving him a mulligan for his broken leg. I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks. -X-
Uhmmm.... Wes Lyons is pretty tall. Check out this block he puts on... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r07tmiDOMO0
