Do these girls not know what they are signing up for? Sure, they could probably be paid more... but they aren't. It's not as if their presence enhances the product in any truly meaningful way. They are expendable.
I just disagree that they deserve to be paid like the people who work at the concession stands. My numbers are reasonable and would be easily affordable by any NFL team. It doesn't really matter what the full time breakdown would be, because the NFL will never move to a 52 game schedule. They have to beat a lot of competition to get to be a cheerleader at the NFL level- I think that $11k figure would not be life changing for anyone, but it would at least make it so that they're not basically volunteers as they are now. I think getting paid $1,000 or whatever for giving up 10 weekends, while everyone else associated with the teams is getting paid, that just doesn't feel right to me. Everyone has their own opinions though.
^ oh, I'm sure that enterprising young lady could figure out a way or two to come by some extra cash if she really wanted to.
