It's not a lock that the 6 seed plays the 1 seed if they win, right? I would prefer to put off playing the Patriots as long as possible. But, if the 5/6 seed thing doesn't matter for that purpose, the chances of the 5 and 6 seeds meeting in the AFC Championship are so remote that I don't think it's worth risking players to win the Bills game.

6th seed is the lowest so if they win they play number 1, thats how seeding works. Getting to 11-5 and having Pitt lose and Balt win would be ideal, I'd rather see the Pats in the AFCCG, then the divisional round.

Edit: Also if we took the 5 seed we would need the Steelers to win their WC game for us to go to Baltimore if we win, rather then NE.

Yes, it is if the #6 seed wins wildcard weekend. The #1 seed plays the lowest remaining seed in the divisional round.

Wouldn't we also need the Bengals to win in Baltimore to get the 5 seed? Even then, would we get it if we win and the Ravens lose?

Let's see, give the fans a show in a meaningless game, or rest your players to get ready for the playoffs?

We get the 5 seed if the Steelers lose and we win. It's not likely that the Browns beat the Steelers, but I wouldn't be shocked if they did.

I'd rather play KC than Indy. If we want to win the SB, we'll have to play at Foxboro later anyways.

As for this game, LT/Greene should both be rested. No carries for LT, maybe like 5 for Greene, and save all the other carries for McKnight/Conner. Sanchez should play a quarter or two, then have Brunell come in. I would also say play the OL for only a half so they can be fresh next week. Definitely rest Pouha and DeVito for some of the game considering how good they'll have to be against Charles/TJ next week. Lowery should play the whole game to get more experience at FS.

Kyle Wilson, Joe McKnight, Dwight Lowery, John Conner, Vlad Ducasse, Gholston, Marcus Dixon, and Jarron Gilbert should all get significant playing time against Buffalo.

You don't want to be the team going to foxboro on divisional weekend when they've had a week to rest and prepare. If you have to face NE, you want it to be at least when they had to play the week before.

I'll take my chances against Manning and his practice squad receiving corps if it means avoiding NE as long as possible.

Damn, am I in the minority?

I want to beat teams that typically are good playoff teams. In order to be the best.....
    - Indy & Manning
    - Pitt
    - NE & Brady

but, if we can get the 5 seed, We get 1 home game vs the STEELERS...that road would be so much different than the 6th seed and looking at the matchups there is a pretty good chance it could happen!

    WILDCARD
    4 vs 5
    3 vs 6

    DIVISIONAL
    1 vs Lowest
    2 vs Remaining

    CHAMPIONSHIP
    Highest vs Lower

the Colts are starting to warm up, that is a concern for me. I'd rather play K.C., which is by the way not going to be an easy game but the jets do have some playoff experience from last year and the Chiefs have not been in for a while, that is why I'd rather play K.C.
No matter what the path is, the jets have to get it together across the board and play
better as a whole than they have been. I still think they can be a big headache for the teams they face and can go on a run.

    Bills

I wouldn't count on it. They have been out of contention forever, but have been playing solid hard football all season, getting better as the season progressed. In years past the Bills used to quit late in the season. I didn't get that feeling yesterday.

But there is a big difference between their putting in a solid effort and playing well enough to win. They couldn't stop the Patriots run game, which meant they soon got in trouble against the passing game. They also turned the ball over seven times.

I doubt they will be so generous with turnovers two weeks in a row, but you guys ought to be able to handle them.

The Bills stunk yesterday, and that's who they are. There is no way Bills will rack up >20 points on our D. Bears executed a few good deep passes and credit to them. I don't care if people wanna admit it or not, but our safety spot has been a concern since Kerry Rhodes left. I don't think Bills can beat us deep with that offense though.

I think the Jets should treat this as a preseason game. Play the starters for a few series

Anybody remember 2004 where the Bills needed only to win their final game to make the playoffs and they lost to the Steelers 3rd string players at HOME?

    :buffaloblows:

    I say, play the backups...

i think the jets will keep it close for a lil bit then end up blowing them out. starters will be sitting on the bench in the 4th.

although it means nothing I'd like to win to get to 11, something the jets franchise rarely does. i've never seen a jet team win over 10. i remember some of 98, but at just 8 yrs old living in FL, I wasn't really into it at the time.

it also doesn't look good to go from 9-2 to 10-6.

Good question. Maybe a poll can be posted about this... should the Jets starters play vs. Buffalo? If so, for how long?

I hope the offensive starters get just enough reps to keep as sharp as possible or to tweak or experiement with new some plays (or wrinkles of some already established plays) heading into the following week's playoff game before getting yanked (hopefully by the middle of the 2nd quarter). The Jets have been unlucky relative to injuries this year, so there's no need to risk any more.

But I think the secondary needs all the reps they can get vs. the Bills to figure out how to stop getting their butts kicked. Fitzpatrick can throw the football, so it's a contest they can't afford to take lightly.

I really would like to see the Jets win this game and get to 11 wins. I dont want to go into the playoffs having lost 2 straight.
