Gilbert in the first is not great value, not even good value. I have a feeling Rb is going to be the best value at 17 with the Jets having their choice of the best RB in the draft. Gilbert is considered a late 1st at best, taking him at 17 would be a reach, I would not be happy.

The only way he's a reach is if we feel we can get him in the 2nd round, or if we can get better value later. If there isn't a 3-4 DE available later who our FO feels can develop into a starter, and if we rate DE as one of our top 2 needs, I don't see how Gilbert is a reach. Value is different from team to team.

Having said that, I agree that RB may be our best place to invest #17. If Moreno is still available at that point, and we feel ok about developing a later DE, he'd be a fantastic pick.

I personally feel Maclin would be our best value at #17, but I seriously doubt he'll be on the board unless Crazy Al has DHB's 40 times hanging over his sarcophagus at night.

EDIT: Just noticed the thread detailing why Gilbert may not have a lot of upside on the defensive side of the ball. If that's the case, I'm all about Moreno or Maclin.

Each of you were the chinks! Good season. I felt it could have been better, but it was still good.

well I gotta say if you want a really good laugh you should read Sporting news draft preview. Apparently Jarron Gilbert is the second most overrated player in the draft
