Hopefully, and I think it will, this loss will eat at the Jets all offseason. Next year will be a different story for this team vs. the Pats.
Football is entertainment, you know you arn't going to win the superbowl every year, especially the year with a rookie coach, and you should be able to enjoy it without a superbowl win. If you can't do that, I don't know why you're torturing yourself by watching it.
We have playoff talent, the expecttions were low b/c of injuries last year. When healthy we are a playoff team.
I don't think they're horrible, but most of the players are just mediocre. The O-Line will be very good in the coming years, but right now they're still not there yet. D'Brick looks like he'll be a stud, but right now he still has to work out the rookie kinks. Clement and Moore probably should be upgraded soon. Jets have a 3rd down scat-back as their starting RB. Chad Pennington is...well, I'm sure you heard about him enough from 3rdandDraw. The defense is insanely weak on the D-Line. They get pushed around too easily. LBs are pretty much run of the mill guys, and Vilma hasn't played very well in the new scheme. Aside from Rhodes, the secondary isn't much to write home about either. Dyson is a good corner, but hardly a shutdown caliber one.
Guess you just get numb to it, it's the life of a Jets fan...Maybe next year, but this season held some promise of a pearl down the road. Peace.
As a Pats fan, for the first time in this era, I feel threatened by another AFCE team. The Jets should be challenging the Pats in the years to come. However, as good as Pennington is, they are always going to be outgunned at the QB position while Brady is here. They will have to overcome that. And the Jets have to build the studs up front on the D line. It starts there on defense. But good year for the Jets. Now they have to draft well.
It's heartbreaking to see a season end at New England, but making the Playoffs this year was a huge step in the right direction. This team really didn't have the horses yet to compete for a championship. This is going to be a valuable experience for the core as we more forward, and the front office is going to fill the holes necessary to make this team a contender for years to come.
