and that's how it should be. conner is a FB who won't be handling the ball very much. mcknight is a RB who keeps coughing it up all pre-season. I can also recall 2 more balls that he lost after hitting the ground that were ruled down. one guy has apparently impressed the coaches all camp while the other has disappointed. conner's fumble was freaky. he tripped over his own offensive lineman and would've been ruled down by contact had he been tripped by the defense. the ground caused the fumble but unfortunately his teammate can't tackle him.
He does also have a dropped pass today and I remember at least 1 other, pretty sure at least 2 from earlier in the preseason. The guy does have some very poor hands it seems. Richardson isn't the blocker Conner is, but his ability to catch passes, experience, and reliability are what will probably keep him the starter. Obv he is still the FB of the future and is one hell of a bruiser. But once he is the starter, we will lose a dimension. I mean, I'm pretty sure he's dropped more passes than he's caught in the preseason.
Neither pass was remotely on target. The other was a yard behind him. There's no comparison whatsoever between Conner's struggles and McKnight's.
Lose a dimension? Tony Richardson had 7 carries and 3 catches...all season last year. Ten total touches.
