Well, we will see about that. The Jets coaching staff gave up on Chad, and from all reports the Dolphins see him as a mere stopgap until "their guy" (I forgwt his name) is ready. If you know more about football than Parcells, the entire Jets staff, and the rest of the league? I think you ned to call the Jets front office and insist that you run the team from now on... If your resume consists solely of backing Chad Pennignton as a great NFL QB? Well, I'd suggest that maybe you wanna find a way to pad it?
The D wasn't good BUT it's hard to play well when the opponent is starting on your side of the field all night. -Jones fumble sets up SD at our 16 -Favre INT goes for 6 -failed OS K and SD started at our 44. -Favre INT and SD starts at our 45 That was 4 of their TDs, the O cost us the game tonight.
Man, the post-game press conference is beginning now... I love this stuff. But does the Webmaster shut down the thread at this point? I hope not. There's a lot of post-game discussion to cover here.
it's not hard to be a better drafter than Parcells but Chad when healthy has done nothing but win in this league. It was a huge risk to make that deal and it looks like it's not working out so far. There's still time and I hope I'm wrong nand Favre ends up gerat and we start playing great but I'm not seeing it now. I believe if we had Chad we would be at least 2-1 and we would have had a much better chance to win tonight. All we have to do is look at the last 2 weeks when our O couldn't do anything agaiants NE and Chad carved them up.
When we badly needed a stop they failed miserably every single time. They remind me of the Mets bullpen, instead of stopping the bleeding they cause it to spiral out of control.
Waitaminnit... Sounds like you are dissing Parcells, who is a great football mind. Didn't Parcells draft Pennington? So what are you saying? Pennington is a great QB, even though Parcells drafted him? You can't praise Chad and diss Parcells. That's just "illogical," as Mister Spock would say. Parcells also drafted Abraham, who is having a decent season with the Falcons, and he rebuilt the Jets. As far as the NE/Miami game is concerned... I, among many others, think that NE is a bad team and they just got their juices up for the game against the Jets.
yea exactly, i mean u cant turn the ball over that many times and expect to come from behind. Im so dissapointed.
Well, this seems to be what Mangenius is blaming the loss on. Turnovers. I'm sure that if these were apple turnovers, with ice cream, he wouldn't hate them so much. But that's our Eric!
good game. Rivers is just a good qb right now and the Chargers had too many playmakers today against the jets. Chargers defense played well even though they allowed 29. It was really a garbage time 29.
He's a great football mind on the field, he's not great at picking the players. He has some hits but many more misses which is why he his 2 SB wins came when he was not in charge of getting players and his other SB app came when he was stripped of his power. Parcells wasn't in charge of the 2000 draft, Al Groh was. Check Parcells' '97-'99 drafts for a tatse of how good he is.
Look at it this way, every pick he throws now puts us one step closer to Ratliff getting a fair chance once Favre retires.
He stole Curtis Martin from the Pats when he was coach/GM with the Jets. How did that work out for the Jets? Sorry, but Parcells is just a great football mind period. Look at the teams he improved as coach and/o GM recently: The Cowboys (who are the best team in the NFL right now, according to... Well, TOO MANY so-called NFL experts)... The Patriots (Yes, we hate them, but they did win a few Supoer Bowls shortly after Parcells left the team)... The Jets (All I hear about on this message board is how Herm Edwards won for three years after parcells left the team because he was coaching "Bill Parcell's Players!") You can't have it both ways. If you want to downgrade Parcells? Then elevate Edwards. Either or both of them had something to do with the jets making the playoffs on a regular basis a few years ago. But wait--you wanna give the credit to... Al Groh??? Don't you think he has had SOMETHING to do with the perception/reality that the Dolphins are better now than they were last year?
He did a great job getting Curtis and Mawae but that was about it and how did NE manage to go on w/o Curtis? He inherited a team that had the #1 overall pick and still had one of the worst drafts in the league. He had 11 picks in 1997 and got 2 starters out of it for a 1-15 team that he inherited. Oh and one of those starters was james Farrior who he traded away the #1 overall pick(Orlando Pace) to get. 2 of his '97 picks never played a reg season down in the NFL, 3 more were w/ the Jets for a year and then out of the league, our 2nd rd pick(31st overall which is now a 1st rd pick) lasted ONE uear w/ us and 3 seasons overall. That is one great football mind:smile: As a coach he's one of the all-time greats and I thank him for turning us around but as a GM he was awful outside a couple of nice moves but he hurt our future w/ poor drafting and awful salary cap mgmt. As far as Al Groh goes: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpa...C8B63&scp=2&sq=al groh jets draft 2000&st=cse http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpa...8B63&scp=16&sq=al groh jets draft 2000&st=cse http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpa...8B63&scp=19&sq=al groh jets draft 2000&st=cse As far as BP in Miami. It's hard not to get better when you were an OT period away from going winless. People forget BP isn't coaching and forget all of his other turnaround shappened b/c he was coaching. It won't work in Mimai unless Sparano is a good coach.
