Points Allowed vs DVOA, Trending Up "They (NYJETS) only allowed 1.55 points per drive, which was the sixth-best rate in football." "The difference between those two statistics disappears the following year, as the average gap between PA and DVOA fell from 15 or more down to 2.4 spots. And, excitingly for Jets fans, the defense usually improves." Mods: My bad - Missed this thread.
Regardless of TOP you can't deny that 3 and outs and short fields really wear down the defense. Also, Just because TOP was the same doesn't mean our defense was getting the same amount of work as opposing teams. With all the pass happy teams throwing 2 incompletions then completing on third down would take less TOP then 2 handoffs up the middle and an incomplete pass, which was the JETS mantra last season.
You stated the following earlier in this thread: I responded by advising that your statement was BS giving you the stats that the Jets defense was not on the field 45 minutes per game and ranked either #8 or #9 over the past 3 years. Now you are telling that TOP is jack sh&t??? DUDE YOU BROUGHT IT UP IN YOUR ARGUMENT. I responded to your post which obviously now makes no sense when presented the facts. I never claimed that TOP means anything, the only reason I responded was to refute your utter nonsense of a post claiming the Jets defense was on the field for 45 minutes out of every 60 minute game. We need a serious retard button check on posts...
