Russell Wilson is overrated. Wilson will not win u games hell Seattle got lucky against the 9ers.You keep Wilson in the pocket he a avg QB.
Our secondary is no where close to SEA'S secondary. I loved Cam coming out of collage and wondered why he fell so far . Safety is more of a luxury then need I guess cause I have seen many good Safety's go so late in the draft . It is a good reason to keep/aquire late round picks . You never know .
First we wanted to be the Giants w/ Tuna/Groh, then w/ Herm it was the Bucs cover 2 east, Mangini was the Pats, Rex brought Raven philosophy & now this. Can't for once the Jets just be themselves?
i don't think our style of play has changed all that much since '97. Seattle has been building a team in the mold of our '09 and '10 teams. they have just found better players late in the draft, found a good QB, and have managed the cap better. If anything, that is what we need to become more Seattle-like at..
The other huge thing Seattle did was pick up Lynch. Wilson is currently my favorite of the Qb picks in the 2012 draft, especially for where he was picked. But I doubt Wilson is as effective without Lynch. Not nearly.
yeah Lynch has been tremendous for them. He was always good, and has somehow even improved with age. I think the trade was for 4th and 5th round picks. Great trade for Seattle. Wilson i expect will continue to grow. He may not be a top QB in this league yet, but he's the real deal in only year 2.
Pete Carroll makes all the personnel decisions on that team. His extensive experience as an NFL head coach, champion DC, NFL head coach again, and then multi-national title college coach, taught him a lot. He is the GM there. Schneider is the Tannenbaum. Our GM was booking hotel rooms for them before the Jets hired him. Until we get a personnel man with Carroll's eye for talent, it's silly to even compare.
It's a good model to copy, but it's so damn hard when one player (the QB) can make so much of a difference. I would love to continue on the path we're on, but at the same time if we could acquire a franchise QB (perhaps it's Geno), it'd make it a heck of a lot easier. Russell Wilson is far from the most talented QB in the League and he's 15 minutes away from winning a Super Bowl. The way that team is built is hard to replicate but it sure is effective.
They actually drafted quality players at LB and secondaries too - which Jets didn't do for a long long time.
If we can lean anything from Pete Carroll's Seahawks, is to take the all of the above approach at QB (i.e., Trades, FAs, draft, UDFA, former busts...etc.) until you find your guy and don't hand over the job to anyone have them earn in. J.P. Losman Matt Hasselbeck Isaiah Stanback Charlie Whitehurst Tarvaris Jackson Josh Portis Matt Flynn Daniels, B.J. Russell Wilson
Well so far we have a good d-line, good ILB's, good run game. Our secondary can be good if Milliner steps up and if another corner on our roster emerges along with Allen and Bush at safety developing. If Geno steps up that will take us a long way.
