Spot on. I guess you can say all three are the same QB. Hoyer is the youngest. Fitz has the most mobility. McCown has the best arm but he's older. All have their pros and cons. If you could combine them into one QB at Hoyers age then I'd pay good money. Otherwise you got to gamble with one of the three.
why do u think McCown would be expensive? He earned 4M last year, and was set to earn 5M this year. But they will likely release him as it didn't work out, and he's now pushing 37. my guess is he'll be offered 4M max now, making him the cheaper veteran option you are referring to. you can't find experienced vet QBs any cheaper than that.
They can get a younger abd better back up for less. Its not that hard to find someone better. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
name one.. even experienced backups get 4M per year, and we need a guy who could probably end up starting.
Petty would benefit from a vet on the roster, and we need a backup plan should Petty not be ready to go week 1.. if we can't agree with Fitz, McCown is a reasonable (albeit uninspiring) contingency plan. there aren't many options.
Foles is younger, but certainly won't be cheaper... His money is also guaranteed, so i don't see why the Rams would cut him. it's an interesting idea tho..
They are going to cut him. Apparently they have a way out. They dont like him for whatever reason. With talent hes a decent back up i think. Certainly no world beater as a starter but a solid back up Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
This is the reality. After the low bottom of 2014 it was fun for the fans, and the Woodster. Not fair to Mac to try and chase that tho. Let Mac fail on his own. He doesn't need Woody's help. Or to be stuck with the job of trying fix Tannebaums , Idzicks, and Woody's fuck ups. Let him start over Even if they think Petty has a good chance to be the guy, Don't throw him to the wolves for the sake of it. Signing a guy like McCown is better. Let him or Geno take the hits and be a bridge to start setting everything up for '17. Maybe start looking at Petty later in the year
I disagree. The big skill players and the core are all win now players. In the NFL, it's tough to really rebuild with having to spend money year to year. The big holes like OLB and the OL can be built this offseason through the draft. And that's really the only real weaklink on defense while offense is gonna depend on the QB cause we finally have good skill players at each position.
I agree with ncjets that we don't have a win now roster. The difference is I think we have a built (and still building) to win long term roster and he thinks we have a built to never win roster.
Why do you either have to be a "win now" team or a "rebuilding" team? It seems that if you have a solid core of depth and a few starts you can win now and constantly rebuild *cough* Patriots. Let Mac build his core and retain what taken he thinks will suit us the best. Woody seems like a guy that is a pushover and doesn't mind spending the money. Mac shows success and he will run this team as long as he wants however he wants. #westsidestadium2032
If you followed other teams, then you would realize how silly that no QB could take us to the SB statement was.
If a win now scale existed, I think we'd have to be considered closer to a win now team than the opposite.
It's a tough call. IDK Losing Mo, Snacks, then possibly Fitz really changes things. The OL is questionable, and we're thin @LB..... We'll see how Mac plays it... Obviously a Rodgers or Brady means you're always win now team
