How about we wait until next week until we throw Geno under the bus again. Statistically, backup QB's don't win much. Not to mention you got Geno going in a game cold in a hostile environment...his defense couldn't stop a nosebleed and the running game was non-existent. Yes, he made some stupid mistakes but how many times have we seen Fitz chuck it to a double/triple covered Marshall? Sign Matt Flynn to back Geno up, and let's pump the brakes and see how he plays against Jacksonville at home.

If Bowles says he's going to play Williams over Cromartie I am fine with that. I just dont want to imply I think Bowles is an idiot or something beacuse he hasnt done so yet. Williams is not playing well, either. Bowles sees these guys in practice. I am confident he thinks Williams has not yet been the obvious answer to who should be starting.

Money's an issue though. Gotta find a way to make that 17M and 16.5M fit into the cap.

Whatever it takes for stafford or kaepernick. I don't give a fuck. Neither has played behind an oline with a running back like Ivory with weapons like decker or Marshall on the outside.

There is no way the Lions are trading Matt Stafford. Our realistic options are Kapernick, RG III, or pick up s dumpster fire like Ryan Mallet.

Thad Lewis would be a decent pickup. He's smart, has some talent, and wouldn't beat himself. He went to Duke and was coached by Cutcliffe who does a great job with QBs.

because Geno Smith has had 31 games to "see how he plays"
because the mistakes he made little to do with going in cold in a hostile environment..
because he's hurt as well. or at least appear to be

because the Jets can't really afford to "see how he plays against Jacksonville" at 4-4 after a loss to JAX that may very well be the game where the playoff hopes end as you'd have to go 6-2 the rest of the way along with adding another AFC loss to your tiebreaker chances

I meant the combination of everything. This jets offense is more talented than 12 13 14 9ers. And I also think after this year Ivory will have a better year than any of Gores years with kaepernick

Did he mention Flynn as a potential candidate?

Exactly. They are saying Fitzy may play next week. It's up to him and his pain tolerance. I think he'll miss the Jacksonville game and be back for Buffalo. You know he wants that game.

Didn't mention any names but I'd assume those type of guys that we have had in the preseason are probably the guys he wants to bring in. Fitz will need surgery at some point, he's day to day right now. Same as Geno.

That still doesn't excuse Williams for forgetting how to tackle

What about Mettenberger? He's obviously not in the team's plans going forward.

Mariota's knee is going to keep Mettenberger in Tennessee for the rest of the season. They're not going to want to be in a position where they have to run Mariota out there before he's healthy and good to go. Sprained MCL is nothing to sneeze at.

It will probably depend on how long Mariotta is out.

but they are 1-whatever. if they have to play some scrub off the street for a game or 2 who cares they are "rebuilding"

not that I want Mettenberger. I personally don't think he's any good but I bet he can be had

He's insurance for the Titans. I just don't think they'd trade him at this point.

I agree. I just can't see their trading him now. If they are willing, I'd love to add him to the Jets if he doesn't cost too much. He's got a great arm.
