This is a ridiculous post. 10-6 hasn't been good enough only 2x in the last 15 years. Granted, it's been fairly recent but it's still incredibly rare. Plus most teams have only played 6 games so far this season, isn't a little early to start pontificating about this BS?
I guess we won't be seeing you on this website much the rest of the year then. Have fun doing laundry or ironing or whatever it is you would rather do on Sundays.
As someone who for the most part sees the Jets' glass as being half empty on most days, I fail to understand the purpose of this post during a rebuilding season. This is a rebuilding year so exactly what did the author of this thread expect? This team isn't quite prime time yet and that's not a huge secret to anyone. It's 6 games into the season with newness everywhere. If more people could wrap their minds around the reality of rebuilding, then these kinds of posts wouldn't grace this website.
These are pretty bold statements. Considering there's well over half of the season left, anything can happen. Injuries, upsets, arrests, suspensions, etc. The NFL is very hectic these days. As for the Jets, I think we got a pretty good chance as long as we stay healthy and start beating some good teams.
and miami is a top-flight rushing defense. In fact, Miami is #4 overall in defensive yards, and #3 overall in rushing ypc {3.0}...
Also, significantly, New England also has a ridiculously easy schedule for the remainder of the season. There are't many gimme losses on there for us to catch up to them by.
Hasn't that been the story for the last 4 seasons (including this one)... as long as Brady and Belicheck are together, don't hold your breath waiting for the tide to turn. I just get the sense that Belicheck might be a little scared of Mangini for some reason... seems as though Eric might be a tad bit more sharp than his former mentor. This is an exciting time to be a Jets fan.
i don't know if he's more sharp. BB's a legend. HOF coach. Better than his own mentor... But Mangini is defintely one of the premier disciples. And he's young. I think BB is more comfy with Nick Saban than Mangini. And that says alot about our coach. Great time to be a Jets fan.
whoa whoa who u guys dont be so harsh on SourJr i see where he is coming from. I would also agree to an extent. We are not superbowl or playoff contenders. He is just saying that if the Jax game is how we cope playing a v good team, thats how we will play in the playoffs.
Maybe so, but I wouldn't be so glib about all that. Parcells won the Super Bowl with Phil Simms and Jeff Hostetler at QB and was at least in the game with Bledblow. Not to mention getting our guys within sniffing distance with Vinny fucking Testaverde. Belichek's only had Tom Brady to work with. Fuck, he'd make me look pretty smart, too.
Not giving up, post title was a little harsh, but it's a headline. Just a little frustrated with the way the Jets seem to be regressing in terms of the coaching staff. Not aggressive enough. First play of the game, Jets had great field position, perfect time to try and go deep. It took them nearly 3 quarters to get bold. And then at the end, the prevent defense was positively Waltonesque. Don't know if Mangini has lost some of his nerve know that expectations have been raised and the Jets now have something to lose, but with the talent drought on this team, he needs to play aggressive every week.
