I think this should be changed to three musketeers now. Brick is out of the way.

If you are going to quote Rosenthal word for word you ought to at least give him credit for it.

Good. When you get a franchise LT, you can't afford to let him walk.

At this pace he won't be working for ESPN very long ...

Regardless great extension, In Tanny I trust!

:jets: See Revis? Maybe you should be more humble about your Front Office

    Three things.

First, a LT is far more important than a CB. Signing Ferguson is just a higher priority than signing Revis.

Second, as for those who say Revis will not wait two years, where is he going to go?????? If the Jets wait two years and come up with the money then, why wouldn't he take it????? It's not as if Revis has any options other than to play out the remaining THREE years of his contract. Sucks for him, but he has no leverage.

Third, so much for the Jets not taking care of their own. I guess if you deserve it, the Jets will pay you. I don't see how you can compare an aging OL on the decline (Kendall) and a TE who was a questionable starter (Baker) with the Jets big four. It's time for all these people who criticized the Jets for not signing their players (Cimini) to shut up.

True. Very true. I was sitting in a bar and had to watch one of the games in a mirror since I couldn't get a good view of the tv itself. Sanchez was lefty in that game. Not only that, D'brick can also play RT.

Not a cap pro, but its one of the most important positions in football and its high, but a good deal for us. Barring injury we just locked up a key part of the offensive line for a very, very long time.

The FA's we brought in this season are on short term deals (LT and Taylor). We dumped big money in Jones and Faneca. Most likely one of our big ticket receivers will be gone next year and someone else lands a big deal. Things will get tight, but tanny has done a very good job of managing the cap in the past. I have faith in him, for now.

Out of the 4 i'm least excited about this, although it's nice to lock up Brick.I think he's a tad overrated but still a strong player none the less.
I would much rather have signed Mangold first.

Your kidding right? So he's ambidextrous? I wouldn't of thought that, especially with that beautiful bomb to Braylon in the AFCCG

if I were Tanny Mangold and Harris would be top priority.

    thats just my opinion.

Brick is good but not elite by any means.

that being said its good to have at least one of these situations dealed with.

8 years $73 mil is more than a fair deal. Alan Faneca, who isn't even an LT, was in his 30s when we gave him a 5 years $40mil contract. This is a very similar deal to the one we gave Faneca. Although Faneca's deal was considered over priced, D'brick is much much younger and plays a positions that is supposed to make much more than an LG.

you guys have got to be kidding me

Revis has all the leverage in the world

the jets needed him to have one of the best defensive seasons of all time to get to the afc championship game

without him the team is likely 7-9 at best

you act like you "having him for 2 years" means that if you force him into being underpaid then hes going to perform as well as he did last year

give me an example of this happening? the player always wins, either through a contract extension or being traded

one of the two is going to happen

    ^^

The Jets are doing him a favor by redoing his deal. Albeit a deserved deal, but a favor nonetheless.

If Woody truly was cheap he'd wait until his rookie contract is up. God forbid we do trade him, we'd get about 5 good players for 1 good one.

A lot of you are saying OL is more important than a CB, etc etc. I think that would ordinarily make sense, but with all these stats geeks saying Revis had one of the best seasons ever for ANY position, 24 may just be the exception to the rule.

Yeah that's true Revis had one of the best seasons ever, but he doesn't protect Sanchez's blindside? You want Sanchez to get murdered on the field? I think not

LT is more important then CB that's stating the obvious

Brick has improved each year he's been in the league

    I think you're partially correct.

I don't believe we "needed" him to get to the AFCCG last season. Of course, he was an enormous part of our defense last season, but I trust that Rex would have adjusted our schemes where necessary to account for not having Revis.

But, yes, Revis can holdout and basically make the Jets life a media hell if chooses to, and most likely force a trade out of it. That's why I think no matter what, Revis either plays with a new contract this season as a Jet, or with another team. Obviously, we're all hoping for the former.

    P.S. Great avatar.
