If he starts less than 60% he gets two.

Yes. Tanny told him he had to cut back on rookies to fill out Revis' 100 mil.

Good news on both signings. It seems like every year mike has been in charge, he takes a long ass vacation making players and agents sweat for a bit, then gives contracts in a flurry. Get em all signed Tanny.

getting caught up in the fandom of this site people have already overrated a guy like ducasse. he was the 61st pick, late second round. he is not a top 10 pick as many would have you believe.

alleycat, granted Vlad wasn't "top 10" draft material, but I've got to think that Rex, Tannenbaum & Co. released Faneca with the thought of putting their 50-million dollar QB investment at risk.

Drafting a kid outta UMass may sound suicidal given that UMass won't be mistaken for an S.E.C. team. But at the same time, I've got to believe that if this kid doesn't fit the bill right away, that they feel Matt Slauson's good enough to fill in until Vlad gets up to speed. jmo.

where the hell do you come up with this shit?

No one ever overrated him to the point where you might think he was going to command 7 million total in his rookie contract.

I was thinking about that... they obviously think Ducasse has a lot of potential but imo to release Faneca they had to like what they had already in Slauson.

It'll be fun to see who starts... especially since the first is against the Ravens who are pretty good in bringing pressure from the inside.

Shit this was a bargain considering I believe he is going to come in at a pro-bowl level. I have no idea how he wasn't a top 10 pick. Ducasse is so awesome.

Oh yeah he is a 61st pick that should have been a top 10 pick. The Jets are super lucky they got away with this small contract.

If I was GM I would have given him a Brick type contract.

Ducasse is so good by saying he is a top 10 pick, I am under-rating him..

No smack talk intended but how does losing Faneca and T. Jones while adding Vladimir or whatever the hell his name is make you guys any better? Not much talk of how Tanny screwed the pooch on those moves. You have a solid team but how the hell do you mess with the run game when it performed the way it did? Am I the only one who wonders what the hell that front office is thinking?

    Yes, you are.

Alan Faneca is rapidly declining, while Vladimir Ducasse was one of the more versatile linemen in the entire draft. If he lives up to his potential, he'll be a top tier run blocking guard in the NFL.

Well TJ kind of sucked whenever the line wasn't opening up holes that were 5 yards wide and Faneca nearly got Sanchez killed on occasion. I probably wouldn't have released Faneca so quickly, but I don't think that we would have done it unless the best offensive line coach in the league (Bill Callahan) gave the "okay". Aside from drafting Gholston, I quite like what the front office has been doing.
