That wasn't your argument. The argument was that
Idzik won't find anyone, but a good GM can find legit talent in the 4th round. No chance in hell that Harvin is on this team next year if he is as big a scumbag as has been written once both Idzik and Rex get fired.

Fighting for #11 makes sense since we already decided Kerley is the first one getting knocked out.

Chris Owusu's number. 13 is available. That'd be my guess.

Forgot that dude was even on the team but year 13's been retired for awhile. He should take 10 from Graham

hey heres conversation that hasn't popped up, so how we using this guy now that he's here?

I assume he's our primary KR now. thats the role that needs little to no practice time, and its something that he's VERY good at. I know some hate it when starters are on ST, but this seems obvious.

as for the offense itself, it would be criminal to not use him in the screen game, some reverses, some sweeps, all that shit. I'm very curious to see how quickly he adjusts to standard receiving duties, if at all.

Hopefully the couple extra days of planning pay off and we see some production from him other than just KR to start. I worry a little about Geno throwing him the ball. He seems like he needs that extra comfort level with a reciever to make the quick decision.

Some probable uses off the bat:

    - sweeps, you can also fake a defense with that and let Geno or CJ run the other way
    - some short passes where he gets the ball near the line in space and tries to run with it. I think Geno used to do that kind of thing in college a lot. We've had some success on those types of plays with Salas, now imagine doing it more often with Harvin.
    - deep routes where he tries to outrun the defense and Geno throws a deep bomb. Even if these don't work most times, they stretch a defense out, and they can't stack the box anymore, which helps the running game and Amaro/Decker on shorter routes.

i love the sweep play seattle uses with harvin. basiclly teams will now have to prepare for that. this opens up things for ivory too, thats another guy you have to account for so they cant overload the box

I doubt he'd buy a number from a player other than 11 since he wore that in Seattle, plus he wore 11 in high school and 1 in college so he's probably somewhat attached. If Kerley doesn't want to give it up he might go 16.

even if harvin is not a number 1 or even a number 2, we have decker who is a borderline number 1 (he's getting better every game) and harvin who is a dangerous slot receiver. we probably already have a better receiver corps than seattle. actually we probably have a lower/mid tier corps now with one of the better running back corps. just gotta get a tall fast target (a Stephen hill that is not Stephen hill). an average nfl qb can make things happen with that group with our 1st round pick going towards a guard

This offense will only go as far as its OLine will take it. So far, that doesn't look very far at all. Geno isn't at the level where he elevates the play of his teammates yet so he needs a great Oline to make anything work offensively.

    If he stays healthy?
    If he is behaving?

What kind of shit is this??
Too little, too late, and we go after semi-damaged goods when we finally make a move.
A desperate move to please the fan base? get the press off their backs? Save Ryan's job? make Geno look like he is still the franchise QB?
this should have been thought about last May, not at 1-6.

Harvin is a playmaker. What makes you guys think the Jets offense would be able to utilize such a talent? I don't have faith that Marty will set effective plays to implement Harvin.

He's not a playmaker. He's one of the best playmakers in the NFL when healthy. Obviously he was a cancer in Seattle for whatever reason. But there is no denying this dude's talent. People are really sleeping on just how good Harvin is. His health is ALWAYS shaky. But there is no denying his talent. And with his contract, it's really a low-risk move. Having a day to process this, I can't knock this deal at all. We basically are giving up Jalen Saunders to get a dynamic game breaking talent at our weakest position. And if he's still in knockin fools out mode we just release him and take no cap hit and then lose a 6th rounder only. I think idzik should be fired but have to give him his props on this one.

Exactly. It's just a 6th round pick. If he works out, great. If not we cut him loose, no cap hit. I'm not confident our scouts could find a player with the playmaking capabilities Harvin has in the 6th round.

I'm not confident that our scouts could find a player with Harvin's abilities in the 1st Round. Then again, why draft a Wr in the 1st round when you can draft one in the 4th or lower that you'll cut before you reach the halfway point in the season..?
