I’d rather see a placeholder with at least an inkling of an upside though. You may walk into a Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold redemption story. There’s zero chance of that happening with Tyrod Taylor. He is what he is and he’s just stacking years on his pension while collecting a nice salary. Not saying he doesn’t compete but he’s not going to turn into an asset.

I’d rather venture into the younger unknown because there’s a couple guys that can give us some fun football next year even if it doesn’t result in a trophy or even the playoffs.

I've always been a fan of Fields and wouldn't mind seeing him in green and white. The NFL is no longer a Tom Brady / Peyton Manning / Philip Rivers pocket passing league. You need guys that can move the pocket like Lamar, Allen, Mahomes, Hurts, etc.

Trevor Lawrence is trash. Do not want.

OL yes. TE no. Mason Graham yes.

Remember when Matt Flynn got a huge contract from one game? Yeah, someone is gonna pay Darnold more than he's worth for sure. Hope its not us. I'm fine bringing him back but not overpaying.

Who are you leaning towards, Fields, May be Kyler Murray,? I dont see Winston as fully invested in helping the Jets short term, might be wrong. Carr could be fun

    This.

Fields still intrigues me. I like his 2nd half of 2023 tape in Chicago, and his 2024 actually played out better then i'd have envisioned at this time last year given what worst case scenario fit landing in Pittsburgh and with Arthur Smith really was for him.

Talk of Tyrod Taylor being better is filled with hateraid imo. As far as I'm concerned Tyrod is probably the worst option fit on the board for the Jets simply due to the zero upside factor.

Vastly overpaying the market on Cousins based on completely unrealistic "savior" performance expectations would be peak NYJ. And basically a scaled down re-do of bringing in Aaron Rodgers.

Bringing in Cousins on what essentially amounts to a relatively risk free and cheap 1 year flyer contract would fall more in line with a potentially savy type GM'ing move we rarely get to see in these parts.

    I wouldn't hate the latter.

That said, kinda guessing Woody is the type to hold a grudge there from him spurning our higher FA offer years ago?

The Falcons should be investigated then if it wasn’t in injury reports. But he never had the strongest arm in the world and as solid as he’s been, he benefitted just like Darnold did from those elite Minnesota weapons in 4x divisional dome games a year ago+ all home games.

Reminds me of when Iron Man Favre complained after the fact that the mean Jets made him play through injuries.

While yes he did the last 2 games I will agree. He did a lot of winning before that and this team (The Jets) needs to re learn how to win. We aren't winning a Superbowl, playoff game, or division before we re learn how to win regular season games. He's a stop gap. 2 year deal with a option in the third would serve this team well

They need to be non-competitive yet FIERY in 2025. Trade Hall, Quinnen, Wilson and anyone else worth a shit. Draft the QB in ‘26 and go.

Plugging a rookie QB into a team of talentless fiery losers sounds like a good plan...

Sounds like a plan the Jets would go with. Wouldn't be the first time. Or the second. Or...

We're not a good team . Can Sam help a struggling squad win? I've seen that he cannot.

I guess when the bio is written we'll find out if 2024 was simply an outlier or a harbinger of greatness.
