He could, but with the punishment NT's take in a 3-4 you need depth there. With Legree cut and James Reed a FA, the Jets definately need depth at NT/DT regardless of whether or not Mangini believes Pouha can be the team's NT
I mean he was your third round pick, hopefully he develops. He saved a pregnant woman in a burning building for gods sake!!! He's gota be worth something! hmy::lol:
I agree that a NT is one of the Jets biggest needs, but we have other positions we need to draft on day 1. I see us drafting a big NT on teh second day of the draft, or signing one through FA. ________Coleman__________Rhodes Barret_____________________________Miller __Barton____Vilma____Brown____Hobson _____Robertson_FA/Draft____Ellis
the Jets definately need depth at NT/DT regardless of whether or not Mangini believes Pouha can be the team's NT I think he is another year away...but if we can get the guy from the ravens, we will be able to buy another year with Pouha. I think he will be the guy we want him to be, A BIG FAT NASTY SLOB who takes on 2 blockers. He will need to be rotated because his moter is weak. he gets stood up way to often
this may sound stupid i dont know that mucha bout my jets. (im from australia) but cant abe play lb?? i thought he played linebacker in college so if we ran a 3-4 he could play there
Twombles Abe is most likley going to be traded so that pretty much defeats your question. If you have questions you can post them in the forum.
yeah who was the human highlight reel this yr on our team? 6 forced fumbles all on sacks? i know what your saying, all im saying is people think theres going to be 1 player we can add to take our D to the next level.......all im saying is not without the loss of Abraham.
When was Robertson ever in form? He was a bust. He has netted us nothing! Reed had just as good stats with a lot less time on the field and at less than 1/10 of the cost.
Going to the 3-4 means Bradway wasted 2 picks on a useless DT. Now we may have to expend a draft pick on a NT
In our '04 playoff run he was a monster. Bill Cowher described him as the best DT his team faced all year. When he can do his job without having to compensate for our lack of a NT, he can be a beast... BTW... If you judge a DT by his stats, you have no idea about the position of DT..
The problem is that there really aren't any in the draft worth taking. Haloti Ngata and Gabe Watson are both great physical specimen's, but they really don't have a motor to play nose tackle in a 3-4. Those guys have to be huge, strong and be able to go 100% on every given play. I really don't think either of them can motivate themselves to do that. Our best chance is to try and find a gem in the mid-late rounds like Jesse Mahelona or Montavious Stanley and hope they pan out.
