Junc , you usually add some well thought out insight in your posts but you really are sounding like an ignorant Jet loving/Giant hating homer who doesn't understand anything. The Giants got ZERO bad play calls in their favor. The Hail Mary is direct result of Bradshaw making a great play the play before while the hapless Packers defense was clueless, all they had to do was tackle him in bounds, the Giants were basically running out the clock. Then the shitty Packers D backs let the Giants receivers run down uncontested when a Hail Mary was all they could do, which was well executed not luck. The Giants took it to the Pack despite getting the short end of ALL the calls by the refs. I am pretty sure I know the plays yout think were int. grounding and they were not. Most people are not even talking about the horrendous spot the Giants got on third down of their first possession in the 2nd half.(That was really meaningful at the time). Flat out the Giants were the better overall team yesterday and probably are the better overall team than the Packers. Yes, I mean that - Giants have way better overall D, better receivers, better running backs - the only real edge for Pack is QB which is not has unequal as many people think.
The super bowl III win was more about old school nfl vs afl and the jets also did some yapping back then as well and they were proven right. The first game should've gone to the Giants, they had planned a new stadium long before the Jets west side project fell apart. The only crying I heard was from woody and the coin toss, that sure goodell fixed. As for Maras quote, get asked day after day about Rex comments about the Giants and the uncalled for covering of their Super Bowl logos outside their personal stadium lickeroom and you'd take shots too, like Woody saying in 2009 "we are happy we were able to close out Giants Stadium properly" after the way the Giants played. Was that bashing or answering an honest question? It's all in the eye of the beholder. Rex statements mean nothing to most Giant fans, but I'm sure if some wormy reporter asked me about it day after day Id talk back too.
Actually they had 3 off the top of my head- 2 noticed by the announcers but they didn't harp on it like the fumble. One was an illegal hit early that would have kept a drive alive for GB w/ good FP, the others were both intentional groundings that were not called. HUGE plays. The success rate on a Hail Mary is evry small, the success rate on a HM in postseason is even smaller. The Giants had ONE call go against them in meaningul action, the 2nd one was in garbage time. The spot was a good one, I watched the game w/ a giant fan who was complaining. We rewound the play and it was a good spot. No doubt about it the Giants were the better team yesterday, GB played awful football- the Giants get credit for GB playing like that but a HM? all the drops? these were unforced errors by GB. The difference in QBs btw GB and NY is HUGE and the Giants WRs are really good but so are GB's- I'd call that even though the Giant's WRshave been carrying that O in recent weeks.
The giants were in planning stages, they probably don't have the new Stadium if not for the Jets and they went in 50/50 so it should have been a televised coin flip rather than Goodell secretly doing it to give it to the Giants. Woody wasn't making fun of the Giants, he was praising the Jets. Mara was wearing a Jets press pas after the falcon game. On Jets gamedays they take all the Giants stuff down and put up Jets stuff, there was nothing wrong w/ covering anything up.
Wish they didn't go 50/50 really could've renovated old place like the did arrowhead which is very similar.
The 2 passes you speak of that were grounding we're no grounding. I assume you know the rules so I won't get into that other than to say on that screen into the ground it was in the "vicinity" of a rb while Eli was in the pocket and the pass out of bounds was in the "direction" of the wr while the qb was "out" of the pocket. For theses reasons it's why those supposed bad cas were not mentioned because there was no foul.
I hated the red and blue seats(whcih I am sure you could understand why) but that was a perfect football Stadium. I hate the new Stadium
the 1st one was w/o a doubt grounding. There wasn't a receiver w/in 15 yds of that pass and he was in the pocket. The 2nd looked like one in live speed(would have been a safety) BUT I didn't see a replay and it's possible there was a receiver close.
I thought the same thing and I never saw a replay, I saw him in the endzone and throw at the ground. It seemed like the closest players were OL but it happened so fast it was hard to really tell. All I heard from my friends who are Giant fans is it's hard to win against the Packers and the refs, really? You had one bad call go against you and let's not forget it was the officials who stole a victory from the Cardinals and put you in the playoffs... why do no Giant fans remember this?
The Giants are good at winning when they are not supposed to, and the Jets blow AFCCG when they are the better team. That is what that tells me. The Jets were better than Denver. The Jets were better than Indy. The Jets were better than Pitt. Problem is the Jets never have the qb to win games for them, while the Giants always seem to.
They won't win. The Niners seem to be a team of Destiny....that, and the fact that they actually GnP better than the Packers who had zero running game and a worse Defense.... It will be a nail-biter to the finish but I see the Niners pulling it off.
No they weren't, we had no answer for Manning. Pitt and Denver we shoudl have won both those games but the Colts were much better then the Jets.
bwhahahaha...... seriously? the team that probably would've been undefeated until the SB if the coach gave a shit about it. missed the Denver part....... Junc was right about Vinny, but that their team was better also.......14-2 w/ 2 straight SBs are a bit of an indicator
For a great defense we blew the game against Indy, but we deserve to lose that one as we blew it. Pittsburgh should have been us...last year was the year we should have stepped it up and after being down 24-0 we came back and had the chance to get the ball back twice on third downs and we failed both times to Ben and Pitt. We also should have beaten the Broncos.....sigh
I understand you're lonely and you feel the need to post outrageous shit in order to call needless attention to yourself, but c'mon.
Well the coin flip was Woody's idea from what I read. The idea was turned down and then coin flip was done with only Giants representatives present. I can understand why the Jets organization was upset with this. This was my understanding of the situation
