I guarantee the FO knew about this when they picked him up. I'm just wondering if they viewed it as worthwhile to rent him for a season. I thought the chances of drafting a 1st round CB were slim. Now, I think it may very well factor into the BPA argument. Obviously, I'm not suggesting it's our greatest need. I'd still prefer a 2nd round CB.
Sapp would be picked in the third round not second. But i do completely agree Id be extremely excited to get Akwasu and Sapp eleven picks apart. On top of Joseph in the early 2nd. This would be a more memorable draft for the Jets.
Reading through your draft id actually like to pick up a WR instead of a RB at #198 I feel we can add a RB next year and Chauncey will be fine. A guy like Antonio Brown from Central Mich. , Emanuel Sanders from SMU, or Seyi Ajirotutu out of Fresno State all fast and decent sized recievers that have good hands and can add nice depth while Holmes is gone as a 3rd WR and can compete with Clowney.
Myself, obviously. I thought Sapp could have been a first round talent so I just automatically assumed any pick with him was the second round at worst. Clearly I forgot the second round stops at #64.
Interesting mock. Of course the Leftwich acquisition changes everything. Maybe he goes to Carolina now. The trade down is very plausible and Bryan Thomas to Cleveland is absolutely a possibility seeing how much Mangini likes his ex-Jets. I'm not a big fan of taking Owusu-Ansah just because of the risk involved in the major leap in competition, but it would be a great learning environment. Sign me up for this draft. Major needs were addressed with good values and the trades seem realistic.
Yeah, I wasn't sure what order to put the two in. My original mock had us trading down for Joseph, taking AOA, and then trading back up for Sapp. Then when I saw that Cleveland, a team that might have more interest in BT than anyone else, had the 72nd pick, it was a perfect fit. According to the draft value chart, I have BT valued at about a late 4th round pick. Could be a tiny bit high, but it's not like the draft chart is the be-all, end-all.
This. We'd fill all our biggest needs for this year at OLB/CB/DL/OG. If that RB somehow works out, yum. 2011 Draft - RT/slot WR (late)/DE/FS. Maybe RT/DE/FS with our 3 picks rounds 1-4. Grab a slot guy in Rd 5. Boy, that'd be sweet.
