So what are your excuses for the clear offensive deficiencies i pointed out? What caused 3 and outs all year, miscommunications between QB and WR, penalties, sacks, picks, fumbles, safeties, and overall douchery? i agree oline is critical to any good offense. but simply replacing Hunter doesn't solve all of the above. That is a huge puzzle to solve. considering some needs on defense as well, i don't see it all being solved in a year. We need better play at the QB position, and some changes to play calling and coaching philosophy. Can we do that with existing coaches, QBs, and WR's? Something has to change there.
Cotchery is awesome. Watching Pittsburgh games, they utilize him almost the same way the Jets did, and he's come up pretty big in key 3rd down situations. Standing up for Holmes here speaks volumes, and really shifts the blame to Schotty, where it belongs. He completely failed to utilize him properly. Perhaps McElroy wasn't referring to Holmes with the selfish comments. When you pay a guy 50 mil, you gotta use him properly. Sanchez and Holmes were not used correctly this year and the stats showed it. I know the line is at fault as well, but you gotta give Holmes way more targets than he's been getting, for the simple fact that he can make those plays, even in tough coverage. The lack of targets is inexcusable, especially considering the numerous times Schotty decided to go with a pass heavy offense. If the line is not performing as it should, Schottenheimer needs to realize it and work around it. Set up the quick slants and other plays that Holmes has made in the past. What happened to the play where Holmes gets the corner shot in the endzone? That was a trademark all last season, but I don't remember it happening once this year.
The thing is, though, he said that the Holmes he knew last year is not the Holmes he's heard of THIS year. I don't think this is as much of him "standing up" for Holmes as it is that he's "surprised that Holmes is like this".
Please don't bother. This is the same functioning retard who thinks Namath was overrated and Tom Brady is a supreme physical specimen.
I don't see how the defense cost us the Raider game. Cromartie fumbled a kickoff and gave them the ball at the 14. Janikowski kicked a super long fg right before the half - I get that the run defense was bad for a few big plays, but that wasn't solely on the defense by any means. In the first Pats game, the offense didn't get a first down until more than midway through the second quarter - you think the defense wasn't a wee bit worn out by then? We held the pats fairly well in that first half. The D definitely played below par a lot, but those games weren't on them.
I don't know about that. Mason was on sirius NFL radio yesterday and he said he never once complained to Rex about the offense. Straight from the horses mouth Mason said he was a scape goat for the teams issues.
The offense was never been top 10 in scoring. Top 12-13 in points scored by the offense maybe. And when you consider the points given up by the offense (plus the bad position it's put the "D" in) then the "O" has been much worse.
Well it seems Mason has a TOO-HIGH opinion of himself. The offense did not revolve around him...never had, never will.
We've seen how bad Holmes became once he got his money, if we gave Braylon what he wanted this offseason I suspect he would have gone off the reservation too. Especially since he couldn't even keep his nose clean (off the field) when playing for a contract.
I doubt it 'cause you see...Unlike Holmes, Braylon ACTUALLY GETS OPEN AND GETS SEPARATION! He actually works hard at getting open for Mark and he has passes thrown to him early and often which he likes so I don't think he'd be much of a BITCH like Holmes is. Remember how it was PRE-Holmes? We utilized Keller, Cotch, and Braylon and that worked pretty well didn't it? Once Holmes entered the fray, everything got fucked up.
I remember that opening night game pre holmes. Bray had 1 cathch for 9 yards against the ravens. We put up 9 points on offense. Yep, everything was clicking!
If I recall, Schitty and Rex still had Mark HANDCUFFED(with Training Wheels still on) from throwing it deep which was a trend that continued on from the previous year(his rookie year). Oh and we had Nick Folk who couldn't nail a kick to save his life that game.. What about the rest of the games, Genius? Once Mark was allowed(finally) to start throwing the ball down the field, he kept finding Braylon, Cotch, and Keller alot with great success. But oh nevermind. You just pick and choose whatever you think helps defend your boy Holmes. My bad. You just keep on hating if that helps you sleep at night.
And who was Holmes' offensive coordinator in 2010 when he was a productive player? The difference is not Schotty (who yes is bad and has to go), the difference is Holmes got his money and became mister diva again. There also weren't as many team 'leaders' that could put a guy like Holmes in his place (including J-Co, Moore, Jenkins, etc), and that's on Tannenbaum, not to mention Rex who ill-advisedly made him captain.
He then hit Braylon for a TD who got 15 yards for unsportsmanlike (which I loved) but still not necessary. The next week Braylon got pulled over and given DUI and missed the first quarter against the dolphins. The offense really clicked when Tone and Braylon played off each other. Tone would get single coverage on some plays and Braylon on the others. Our best offensive showcase had to be Patriots in the playoffs where everyone was involved. Having Braylon back and not Holmes would have not solved our O line problems, playcalling, and poor decisions by shell shocked Mark. It would have not tackled on defense or covered tight ends. It seems you arguing everyting would be solved if we signed Braylon not Holmes, but that's not the case.
Lol, so I point out that your argument that everything was fine was not exactly true and you resort to name calling? Very nice, I guess your more than a bit insecure about your man crush. The fact that Ted Ginn is still on the Niners and Bray got cut must be killing you. Holems was a big part of the problem this year and that was evident. He's still very talented but probly not worth keeping around at this point. Unlike some I cheer for the team first and players can come and go as they please, but keep thinking this is about that or personal, becasue its funny to watch you try.
