that can change, it's Rex's job to make sure he changes. The embarrassment of a bad season, missing the playoffs, losing his captaincy and potentially losing a ton of money should be enough to motivate him.
In other ex-Jet wide receiver news... Agent says WR David Clowney agrees to deal with Buffalo Bills BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills are wasting no time addressing their depth at receiver this offseason after free agent David Clowney agreed to a contract with the team on Wednesday. Clowney’s agent, Brian Mackler, confirmed to The Associated Press that his client had signed a contract issued to him by the Bills. Clowney had announced the signing himself by posting on his Twitter account a photo of the contract he received from the team. Clowney added a caption to the photo by writing: “Buffalo Bills!! ... I’m already ready for a new season!” The Bills were not immediately available for comment, and have a policy of not announcing player moves until they’ve received a signed contract. Listed at 6 feet and 188 pounds, Clowney has been out of football since being waived by the Carolina Panthers before the start of this past season. He had six catches for 102 yards in 10 games with the Panthers in 2010. Clowney previously spent four seasons with the New York Jets, where he had 16 catches for 239 yards and a touchdown in 18 games. He’s particularly noted for his speed. That’s something the Bills lacked this past season, particularly after they lost Roscoe Parrish to a season-ending ankle injury after two games. The Bills, coming off a 6-10 finish, are also in need of receiver depth. Both Parrish and starter Stevie Johnson have completed the final years of their contracts.
I hope so, but with his track record I'm not so sure. I really wish we kept Braylon instead and had Cotchery and Kerley.
I'm not going to really defend Holmes because I don't know what's really going on in that locker room, but there's always the possibility that all of this came about from either 1) Disliking Schotty's system 2) Sanchez's inconsistency Of course winning cures all ills. However, I honestly don't think the whole players going to rex to complain about the system back in October wasn't made up like the coaches told the media.
it's funny b/c everything we are hearing about Holmes were supposedly the reasons we didn't re-sign Braylon.
Edwards totally sucked this year. We would have gotten even less out of him and he wanted at LEAST the same money as Holmes got to come back to the Jets..that would have been just great..
Braylon played hurt most of the year in a system that didn't fit his skillset. There's no telling what he would have done with the Jets this year, or even that he would have gotten injured.
You have no idea if the Edwards in San Fran would have been the same Edwards in NY. For two years the guy did everything the Jets asked of him on the field and we never heard of him being a locker room cancer. He ran his routes, he opened up routes underneath and he blocked downfield. It's pretty much written in stone that Sanchez was a much better QB with him then he is without and it's really not even close. To say that he sucked in San Fran means nothings because they run a different system with a much different set of players. The Jets do not have Frank Gore nor Vernon Davis. If they did we'd be in the playoffs.
Well he sucked bad enough to get cut..if the Jets want him they can sign him now...hopefully for the vet minimum. Let's see if he will take it this time.
Or maybe he got his $50 MM and the 'good behavior' button was turned off. See, Champagne guzzling, NY Post.
You don't know that he would have performed like that with us. Different team, different system different everything. Plus the 9ers didn't pass the ball much, Edwards was the #1 receiver target for Sanchez i think we would have been much better with Edwards then with Burress this year.
No the 9ers did not throw much, but when they did, they did not trow to Edwards. He was hurt this year, but the fact that he was cut heading into the playoffs says something and nothing good for Bray. They did not save much money at all by the move and cost themselves any chance at production from him. Eitehr the injury is much worse then the let on or he was causing problems in the locker room.
What, frustrated that he throws the ball at him and it goes through his hands into a defensive player? Or the fact that Mark is so ugly he scares Tone to hide behind the CB?
He got injured in the Pre-season when he accidentally banged knees with Vernon Davis. Jets don't have Vernon Davis so I doubt he would've gotten hurt had he been re-signed. We would've won at least 2 more games(maybe 3) with him still here. Keyword : SUPPOSEDLY But it was really because Braylon wanted "Holmes" money which he(and Holmes himself) didn't deserve. The issue I have with Tanny is that when Braylon cut that in half, asking for a more reasonable deal(5 years, 25 mill), Tanny just...didn't bite. Hell he didn't do anything. Tanny was an idiot for waiting so long to see Aso end up with the Eagles and he was an idiot for letting that lead to him letting Braylon go. He better bring him back. That's because the Holmes he knew last year was a FAKE. A MASK to cover the Real one once he got PAID. If those are the two choices, then I'm going to go with the former(Injury). Guy needs to heal that knee to 100%(which was why he stated on Twitter that he'll be ready for the 2012 season) first before even thinking of getting on a football team.
It worked in 2009 and 2010 because when the team is going good, all is great. But when the season takes a turn for the worst like it did, the locker room becomes filled with selfish 10 year olds who dont respect anyone. Im not sure if Rex's loose coaching style can work on a team that isnt in the playoffs. He needs to tighten up the lose ends or cut em'. Im pretty sick of this team bringing in selfish players, I want high character players.
I dont follow you around enough to know why, but ive picked up enough from your posts to summize that you honestly like schotty as an OC. May I ask why? I understand the O-line and all the reasons that can explain this year. I truly understand that. I understand that his thinking may have been, "ok, our oline cant give the Qb or receivers anytime to run the offense Id really like to run, so ill call these really quick pass plays, because the Oline cant get the job done for the run game to." What I dont get is that when we did go to the run game, and it worked, hed just completely abandon it, by abandon I mean consecutive 1st and 2nd down passes. Seemed to me he lacks the ability to change his game plan during the game. During the giants game, for example, it just made me sick. Greene was cake walking, and then that was it. 59 pass attempts later, you have the 2011 Jets. Please dont tell me the pass set up the run because we failed at passing the ball to, and thats a weak argument. Thats why I thnk hes horrible, lack of in game changes and this sick obsession with his passing game, almost like it was a pride thing "ill show them it works!" ahnd in hand right there. Oh and his reverse plays, even when they work they are only for 8 yards, he needs to be stopped. Also this isnt an attack, real question here, please tell me why schottenheimer is the right guy for the Jets? Edit: Sorry about the hijack, it just finally hit me, i need to know why this guy like schottenheimer, ill go hunt junc down in an appropriate thread.
