The last time we had a 3rd round pick and a fifth round pick, we got Anthony Schlegel and Jason Pociask.

PEOPLE! CALM DOWN! This was a dynamite trade- we've turned the second biggest weakness on our team into a strength! Did you expect it would cost us nothing? Were the Panthers dangling him for a conditional 7th rounder and Tanny just balked and threw them two picks?

Footballgod214- I didn't want to post your quote cuz its enormous. But GREAT reconaissance.

Any Jets fan who doesn't realize we got the strong side of this deal is an idiot. They don't realize that there's a SHITLOAD of difference between Shaun Rogers and Kris Jenkins, not just a coupla pounds.

You can't judge Jenkins on his tackles/sacks and say he had a so so year. the guys job is to take on two offensive lineman and free up line backers to have the glory. That is all he has to do in NY. If he can create havoc with the offensive line can you imagine the year Harris will have? Can you see our sack total go up because they can't double up on the outside? It will improve the entire defensive unit!

So we got Jenkins and we still have DRob and Vilma. Good. More interesting stuff will happen and I think we will pick up a second or third round pick somewhere.

Ooops, just read the other thread that we got a conditional from the Saints for Vilma.

Nice pickup, huge slab of beef for the defensive line. 350 lbs.

And we'll be getting one of those picks back in the Vilma trade.

I'm excited for jenkins. We could always keep DRob and put him at DE. We added some much needed beef to the line. Another depth guy in the draft and our DLine could be in good shape. Sign Faneca and both lines are in good shape

and improving the line immediately makes being a line backer for the Jets a lot more attractive!

Well signing Faneca would improve the Oline. But it still wouldn't be in "good shape." There is still a gaping hole a RT, and the depth sucks. It would be a great improvement.

Man, this is one of the trades I wanted all along.

    Terrific Mangini and Tannenbaum.

    This one's a double!

Love the trade, I wanted Jenkins over any of the other DTs being mentioned. Though does anyone else find it ironic that we finally got the NT we have been needing and we trade Vilma(who would benefit the most from him) the same day?

I defenitely like the aggressiveness this FO is showing, I'm just going to trust that they know what they are doing. Chances are we will recoup the 3rd by trading DRob over the next couple days.. Or what if we trade him for Rogers?? imagine that Dline..

You've got to love how every fanbase thinks they are getting screwed on NFL trades. The bottom line is that you never know how these things work out until the guys actually play. Clearly the Jets had talent on Defense without great performance. Time to bring jettison the guys who aren't working out and bring in some new guys. I have no objections to this deal.

I really think we can get a second for DRob. He is uninjured. No reason to expect anything less.

We reap the fruit of the Vilma trade in 2009, but with all of the variables this makes the most sense.

Maybe but I find that to be highly unlikely. Jenkins just went for a 3rd and a 5th and is clearly the better player. The only way I can see a 2nd for DRob is if the rumored trade of Rogers for Stroud goes through and Denver gets desperate to add a DT..

Good I am sick of watching teams run up and down the field on us. This is a major step in not being in the bottom of league against the run

    Awesome trade

How can some people not be absolutely stoked that we are already making huge moves in FA. Jenkins the big beast is going to make our D line so much better it's ridiculous.

Good compromise is the essence of good business. A good compromise is supposed to leave both sides feeling that they've lost more than they wanted to lose. Since EVERY Panthers fan seems to be furious, and only the clinically retarded Jets fans are furious, I'd say we made out like bandits in this trade.
