7 receptions. 81 yards. He looked pretty good the entire game.

Remember the plan was to go with Perriman, both Smiths, Mims, Crowder, and Berrios. That's a solid receiving when healthy.

Hogan is washed up. He can't get any separation whatsoever. and Cager and Malone can be barely run a shallow fade

    Thoughts?

Yeah, Jeff Smith was a clear bright spot last night. Looked really good. Hopefully he can keep it up.

He looked good. Tough to tell if he's actually good or if he's going to catch passes simply because he plays and we're throwing JV receivers out there.

Regardless of all that stuff he played a good game and looked fluid in securing catches and continuing up the field.

Obviously it was the plan, so I think people are freaking out about the receivers too much and not about Gases game plans. Herndon and Griffin are capable receiving tight ends, why is Herndon blocking most of the time? Go two TE and use Wesco to block more.

If I see one more rush by Gore or one more target to Hogan I’m gonna go nuts.

Performances like Jeff Smith showed last night are what make miserable seasons like this somewhat bearable.

i had posted in the week thread for the Broncos to expect some shots deep with Smith and they did so.

he’s improved nicely from last year and his speed element at least gives him the ability to separate on slants/drags/ etc.

He’s also able to lineup on the outside because he has a bit of size. Crowder had his usual nice game as he returns to the slot. Once Perriman comes back, you should be able to see the PB open a bit more as there’s speed and quickness now all over the field for Sam.

Yes the cluster fuck seasons the jets have all too often do occasionally uncover a gem.

Perhaps not as often as we would like but let’s hope.

Folks if u put that WR group on the field with a functioning QB, o line, and play callers.....,

    that’s real good.

It would really help speed up the rebuild process if we can find some young talent with potential that can be keepers through this miserable season.

I’d say Smith, Franklin Myers & Huff are 3 that are showing that they can potentially be keepers.

I think you're overestimating that group's talent. Not a single guy better than a #2 on every corps in the NFL. Crowder is the closest and he's limited to just being a good slot receiver.

    Hope Mims doesn't blow.

I've been following Jeff Smith through training camp. So glad for him that he got a chance & showed he belongs. Good job Jeff.

I admit I wasnt a fan after some big gaffes last year but its good the staff stuck with him and saw something. Hope he can continue to build on it though.

would rather have a bunch of #2's running routes out there than a #1 and a bunch of other guys.

puts more pressure on the D.

Where's the non-Crowder #2? It's just a bunch of no names with "potential". Chaz Schilens, Stephen Hill, Clyde Gates, Devin Smith all had potential too. None of them are in the NFL. The last time we had a decent set of receivers was with Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, established vets with tread left.

I'm all for giving guys a shot, but ya gotta earn that shot rather than just be given it by virtue of having an awful roster. Makes you wonder how we could let a guy like Robby walk after proving himself as an UDFA.

qoute the tuna : 'you can't make the club from the tub'

' when healthy' is the relevant phrase. signing guys with injury histories is like funding your retirement

with lottery tickets. sounds good in theory, if you hit, but never works out in practice.

What...you don't like the Frank Gore 2-yard rush on every 2nd and ten so we're CONSTANTLY in 3rd and 8? Adam Gase does.

Someone covering the Jets/Denver game noted that Berrios only had about 8 snaps. Was he hurt? If not wtf were the Jets thinking?
