Jeff Reed to be released. I think the Jets should sign him.

Threads like this point out Jets fans can be just as crazy as any other fans out there.

Replacing Folk w/ a kicker who is doing even worst this season makes no sense. Some posts in this thread bring up Reed's past .... screw that. If Reed is so clutch & has such an awesome career & was still able to produce, the Steelers (who are a legit SB team) wouldn't have told him to gtfo and sign with anybody who's willing to take him.

Santonio Holmes might not agree about the loyalty part

    As would most football fans.

Pittsburgh is loyal, when you're young and productive.

    Ask Alan Faneca.

Right, and Pittsburgh has like 5 Lombardi trophies. Its best to have teams full of young productive players. Not old retreads who suck.

Nobody states it's wrong to get rid of players if they can be replaced w/ younger talent. The point is that loyalty was not a factor for Steelers when deciding to cut their kicker.

    75,76,79,80...

    (actually...btw they have 6)

But the fact remains, that organization will just as soon let a good player walk....

Not exactly a roster filled with old guys.

I guess the Steelers stuck with him through a 72% season and a 74% season because they are a poorly run franchise that never wins anything.

As you are about to find out...Kicking in that $#ithole, makes a guy worse...no denying it.

However...my point was about the Steelers vaunted loyalty...

Faneca was the TOP FA guard, and a HoF player.

They let him walk rather than compete with the market.

They dumped Holmes, while keeping two time alleged rapist Rapelisberger.

Bottom line, the Steelers franchise is very coldly self-oriented (which to be honest is why they are consistently good).
(Realistically having a Rapist in your employ is worse than having a guy that likes his 420, but cutting a first round QB is harder to fix..)

Just because ESPN blows them for perception purposes does not change the truth.

I agree. Amusingly this is what the Steelers just did.

Nor was it a factor when the had to decide between a twice accused rapist and a guy that smokes ganja.

They chose the path of least resistance.

Nothing like one solid example to prove a point.

Which one...Faneca, or Holmes v. Rapelisberger?

How about Kimo von Oelhoffen who all but handed Pittsburgh a SB ring, by kneecapping Palmer.

They let him walk in his FA year.

You keep the rapist over a Super Bowl MVP receiver who likes weed not on a moral stance but simply because a rapist quarterback is a lot more difficult to replace.

    Err alledgedly likes weed.

Faneca is the only good one.

But I didn't make a passing comment about the Steelers being a loyal franchise to debate it with anyone.

    Right.

    Cold Self interest.

Yet...the Public image is, the stalwart, loyal franchise that does the right thing...

    Which was my entire point....

I'm not good at catching points unless I make my own conclusion. Either way you and I are both correct. Fuck ESPN and the majority of mainstream media. They pick their favorite teams, players, and coaches and they're placed on a pedestal. None of this should come as a surprise to anyone.
