When they put Tebow in for his Role Play Tebow will need someone to pitch to. Also No confusion just like there was no confusion when Brad Smith was here.

Can we sign him just to make sure the Pats don't sign him.

In fact can we just have a Jet employee handing out contracts to all players landing at Logan to make sure the Pats don't sign them?

Demps is a sprinter, he's best suited for a team that will spread things out and get him the ball in space. Think Darren Sproles on New Orleans, or Danny Woodhead on New England. The Jets may run the ball more than those teams, but they won't be running Demps' style -- sprinters aren't well suited for the "ground and pound." And the Jets offense is not at all the same style that Urban Meyer ran in the SEC.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to add Demps, you can never have enough elite athletes. I just don't think we'd be the best fit for him.

Depends on what our "wildcat" is going to look like. He's at a big disadvantage for getting any playing time this season after missing all of training camp. If he could find a team running a package that he's very familiar with and could take advantage of his skillset it might help him get on the field this year.

There's an advantage to having a good scat back on your team. Demps would be a plus.

That may be true. But he'd probably have a great shot at being a returner on almost any team. And Demps could easily be used for zone read plays like Tebow ran at UF and Denver, if the Jets decide to incorporate any of that into their wildcat package.

I don't think it's a huge loss that we didn't get him. Hopefully I'm right, if he lights it up for the Pats that would blow.

    McKnight > Demps.

I'm not to high on putting a guy who has been out of football for a year after college in front of the guy on our team with very similar style who's looked really good so far.

I think all the Pats will do is use him as a receiving RB and try to quickly get him the ball in open space.

Really can't see this guy running up the middle between the tackles.

Fox 13 in Tampa reports Patriots visited with RB/KR Jeff Demps & sides have agreement. Working to confirm.

    Rich Cimini ‏@RichCimini

Looks like Jeff Demps will sign with Patriots, according to multiple reports. #Jets were interested.

    Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet

Breaking: Olympic sprinter Jeff Demps will sign a contract to play for the #Patriots, per 1 of his agents, Nohemy Baltodano. Wow!

My fault for moving the thread too soon. Steiny is usually a good source.
