again your focusing on only half the reason he's here and ignoring the other half (cap) it's been well documented that they remained in touch over the years.
you realize TB did this with a 44 year old QB and they won a SB 2 years ago. you can't fault a GM for injuries
Tom Brady being an alien and the outlier of all outliers doesn't change the fact that older players do generally get hurt more often. You can absolutely fault a GM for injuries. Douglas is actually a great example of that. Becton was always an increased injury risk because of his size. Lo and behold, he got injured a lot. Lawson was always an injury risk because of past injuries. Lo and behold, he got injured. Brown was always an injury risk because of his age. Lo and behold, he got injured.
You have any stats for that? I mean not a lot of QBs play till their 40. but guys like Ben, eli, peyton, favre, brady, brees etc were all able to play to rodgers age without major injuries. manning at 35ish came back from a neck surgery and won a SB. brady never suffered a major injury after the age of 30. favre was an NFL iron man and even after the season with us, went to minn and had a great season. brees never suffered any major injuries after 30. eli never suffered any major injuries either. Older QBs have mostly done well with not getting hurt. of course the few exceptions was the jets with vinny, favre, and rodgers. outside of that, older QBs have been fine for other teams. and yes you can blame the lawson one if you want but we were desperate for an edge. after that FA class JD said he was going to focus on players with a clean injury history. the following year he signed tomlinson who hadn't missed a game in 4 straight years, was coming off a pro bowl season, and was one of the top 2 free agent IOL. and he wound up sucking and getting hurt.
