Except for Rodgers, last season was an epic failure for JD. He signed a bunch of horrible players and didn't sign the players the Jets needed.
I watched him interviewed on Jake Asman's podcast... He painted a much more toxic situation than the linked article portrayed.
Those are not results, they are subjective opinions; these are results: 20 - 47 (27 - 56 if you want to give him credit for somebody else's draft and free agents)
It's odd. Didn't he come up under Ozzy in Baltimore? Actually, he's been a part of a couple decent FO's? Did he learn nothing? Obviously, I don't know Ozzy Newsome but I've read he's one of the shrewdest and cut throat GM's to ever prowl a FO! IMO, he was more feared as a GM than a TE any day of the week. Clearly JD has a learning deficiency as well.
Yes, JD worked under Ozzy and then worked in Philadelphia. People want to put their own spin on things however, and do things the way that fits their personality. He could have been great at what he did in Baltimore and Philly, but is simply too nice and accomodating to ever be "the boss." Then again, he could get fired by the Jets, learn from his mistakes, and then go on to be a great GM elsewhere. He has made some great moves here. It would be typical Jets luck for him to get fired, go elsewhere and build sustained success there.
We can only hope. His pedigree was certainly great, and he has made some great moves, but also made too many head-scratching moves and has failed to fix the OL. If he doesn't have an Epiphany and quickly, hopefully he won't be here next year.
