Why is it not reasonable though? Im genuinely curious because Im also not going to pretend like I can dissect the RGs of the league and break them down into rankings. He grades out to be above average in everything. That's the kinda money above average players are making.

I am really happy with Joe D so far this free agency, hoping for some more signings specifically with the secondary.

I think he grasps the importance of this off season for his tenure here

He fits the typical profile of the guards that the 49ers invest in. Lower tier players that fit next to their top tier tackles and centers. They churn and burn these types of players.

It’s no surprise that Tomlinson had his best year as a pro sandwiched in between two Hall of Famers and the best tackle in all of football.

I hear you, but to me it was not just necessary but mandatory, and in todays environment with not a lot of options available and few teams throwing money out like confetti, at fair enough market value to strike. We are plugging a big whole for a long season ahead trying to keep Wilson on his feet. The TE pick was a steal in my view.

JD's learning curve seems to be flattening out this year. He's 3 years in and seems more comfortable handing out cash for quality FA's instead of doing the Family Dollar thing. Lets see how he deals with the upcoming draft and the results of it before we anoint him St. Joseph of the Meadowlands.

Bad day for the JD haters. They will have to wait until the draft now.

If I'm reading his pattern right, JD has his eyes on defense at #4.

JD is not done yet but day one was a home run IMO. He is steady as a rock, plugging major wholes with talent at fair value, not going after the splashy $87 million CB but instead improving critical areas with warriors and leaders in the locker room. He is methodically using free agency to leverage the draft keeping all options open. Watch Defense and WR dominate the early rounds, followed by TE/OL and depth the rest of the way. Love his style.
I do feel this team is beginning to jell with a combination of youth and vets working in unison under a GM and CS with a clear long term plan.

I have been in the DE at #4 camp, but looking at the depth of the draft, and the apparent hype around the DEs and depth of various positions, it would seem the best trade down or DB at #4, DE at #10 and trade up from round 2 to get a WR in the mid-late 1st.

There was an article last week where Saleh was quoted saying…”they did not like the amount of games their FA signings missed and they were going to seek to sign FA that were durable”

    I agree with the OP!

Nice, sensible signings. Good character, durable and good football players at reasonable prices.

What teams like the Jaguars are doing is short sighted and very risky...don't like it. It's just all very rushed and puts pressure on everyone,

Too bad for them he will likely hit a grand slam with 4 instant impact starters at 4, 10, 35, and 38! :D:cool:

I've been in the OT camp as wanting that is--now it looks to me JD is looking at Edge or S.

I like your WR thinking--who do you think is the best value?

I forgot that questioning any signing the Jets make in March is equivalent to being a hater.

It’s a bit early to spike the football, fellas. We’re on our own 28 yard line right now.

Pretty happy thus far. Seems like a pretty disciplined approach to get guys who can hold the fort and then hopefully some more -- without breaking the bank or chasing the Leveon Bells of the world

We can now go into a draft without panicking about filling a hole (or less of a panic). If we don't add another player in FA i suspect 3 of first 4 will be defense and the fourth will be a WR

I can see him adding a safety in FA, but not a WR at this point. Prices for FA WR are so outrageous you're better rolling dice in draft
