I expected all of the rookie quarterbacks to be better than they’ve been. Lawrence and Fields sucking doesn’t make me feel better about Wilson’s struggles.

True but at the sametime, it gives a perspective on how big is the step from college to the NFL in term of rhythm and anticipation. Nobody question the throwing abilities of Lawrence, Fields and Wilson.
I do think coaching at this point is more important than a QB. Look at the Cards and Pats. They are still dominating with 2nd tier and rookie QB.

I think Wilson has his own issue to fix but the coaching have also been abysmal and a bigger problem.

It shows a rookie QB can't carry a team. The young Qb's that do well are on decent teams or at least a decent offense. I like that Saleh said in his press conference that he thinks Zach will be special. Lets give this time. I am excited to see how he plays with an improved o-line a surging Elijah Moore. Seems like this staff was force feeding Davis which has led to to some issues.

So far, the 2020 class looks bad while the 2021 class is very good. I guess 2022 will break the tie.

I think you'll find that our picks are performing about the level of their draft position. Its good that they are starters but we are calling decent players stars way too soon.

The truth is JD doesn't know how to build a solid team. We should have more talent on our team this season and should be looking at a many more top draft picks next draft. It was just utter stupidity to sink all the premium picks we could have gotten into Zach.

JD builds slapdash and doesn't have any over reaching plan. Five picks in the first 3 rounds wont do near enough to rebuild this mess.

Huh. I guess they should have kept Sam Darnold, currently the worst QB in the league.

I like to debate but frankly a blanket statement with zero evidence to support it is probably not really worth getting into.

We already have two 1's and two 2's in 2022. If we need 20 picks per draft to build a competitive team, we might as well fold the franchise.

Who brought up Sam Darnold? Isn't that a red herring? Besides, in case you didn't notice it, we've had 4 QBs play this year.

Also not sure what evidence you need? You showed rookie stats whose positions reflected their draft positions. The 3rd WR taken is ranking 3rd. The 3rd RB taken is ranking 3rd.

That's just idiotic. Its a really terrible idea to have a lot of high picks when rebuilding a dumpster fire.

Your right, it would be awful to have 3 firsts and 3 seconds next year, and really bad to have had 2 firsts, 2 seconds, and 3 thirds last year. The franchise would have just had to fold up.

Get you nose out of JDs ass.

I have acknowledged that the 2020 draft class looks bad, so I'm not saying he can do no wrong. My point is, they need to draft better or it won't matter how many picks they have. And as the Dolphins have shown, accumulating a ton of high picks means nothing if they can't hit on many of them.

    1. I Never said any of the rookies are stars.
    2. You just made a blanket statement about Douglas not knowing how to build a team with no evidence.
    3. If you traded back at #2 overall who is playing QB if not Darnold.

Should be a good thing, he just needs to hit on these picks.

2020 was his 1st draft which looks to be at worse a solid draft with becton, davis, and hall. plus mann has been solid as a P and clark could wind up being good but sadly got hurt this offseason so missed his 2nd year. mims still has potential. it's really just morgan, zuniga, and perine were bad picks.

2021 was his 2nd draft. so far it looks great. wilson will be a big part of it for sure, but outside of wilson for now AVT is a stud already as is moore and carter. carter II has been a nice surprise as well.

Mac Jones isn’t looking to bad. However the Patriots actually have a CS, not a bunch of newbies.

They have a long term established coaching staff, and a high quality offensive line with years of experience playing together and in the scheme. I’m not knocking Jones at all, he was obviously the 2nd best QB in the preseason, and everything we saw there has translated.

The Jets have a new young coaching staff, and a questionable and inexperienced OL. I just know that Wilson is capable of so much more after seeing how he played in the preseason. Everything he struggled with so far, he showed he can do in the preseason. It’s harder in the regular season, but I think it’s only a matter of time until he shows more of those skills in the regular season.

Don’t you think that we could have made things a little more basic for Zach? Our OC seemed to abandon the running game way to quickly.

It kind of feels like the Patriots are going to show us what the Jets could have done with Pennington if they had provided him better coaching and players.

I know this sounds like a cop out but to genuinely break down the offense over Zach’s first 6 games would take so long. Any takes you can read in a quick post here is oversimplified by default.

I think the best way I can say it is that there have been different times where the OL failed, where the Skill Guys failed, where Wilson failed, and where LaFleur failed. But we’ve actually also seen each of them do a good job at other times. Wilson made the Panthers game close. He won the Titans game.

That’s what growing together as a remarkably young offense means. At some point, I suspect you’re going to see a game where the OC, QB, OL and skill all function well all at the same time.

IMO this is utter BS! You're the one who doesn't know jack shit! What HOF GM have you worked for? What are your credentials? What NFL teams have you worked for? For which NFL team did you help build a SB winner?

He knows to build the lines, he knows talent and scheme fit. he finds talent in every round and as UDFAs, he uses his top picks on the premium positions and the OL.

Saying we should have more talent on this team is absurd. JD has added an incredible amount of talent to this team in two offseasons. He has added more in 2 seasons that the 3 previous GMs did over the last 8-10 seasons. He has further set the team up with extra draft picks in 2022 and cleared cap space so that he can be a bigger player in FA.

You lose all credibility when you make assinine posts like this.
