Good news if that's what ends up happening. The wind will suck, but I remember last time we lost a tree not because of the wind, but because the ground became so overly saturated that the wind was able to just uproot the tree.

Thats the crazy thing about the models..they keep showing this massive unheard of storm..but the qpf...the amount of precip FOR CERTAIN AREAS...is just the same amount as a normal big storm.

Some areas will luck out with precip amounts...those north of the storm.

Not much to change BROOKLYN...Not much at all...I will be on tonite a lot more after my sons big playoff game!...plays outside linebacker and on o line...huge game. When things settle down I will be on all night tonite.

Will sneak in from time to time.

Again...either the models are not doing a good job with precip amounts..or the amounts given are wrong for many areas.

Wind? That will be an issue no doubt...huge issue with 5 or 6 states averaging well over 30 mph with gusts over 60...some states (NJ NY MD) will average more than that with gusts in 90"s

Good luck to your son on his big game. Weather Channel said US GFS model update is coming in an hour and Euro Model update is coming around 3 PM.

The only concern I have, personally speaking, is loss of power.

Now, for a lot of other people, especially right on the coast and low lying areas, I feel for them, I think they are in for it. I just find it difficult to feel sorry for people with homes in places like Fire Island. They know the risk. Build a house on sand... well, sooner or later... the inevitable will happen. We spend a ton of tax payer money to protect these kinds of vacation houses owned by the rich. Sort of sticks in my craw.

I did cave and am freezing gallon jugs of water with coolers standing by. I don't like warm beer. Plenty of dry foodstuffs and bread. A canned ham, lots of tuna, canned chicken, canned veggies, I could last 2 weeks no sweat with plenty of charcoal on hand to boot, not that I have anything to BBQ. Still, hot coffee, boiled water etc.

I'm not sure that 20 hours of sustained winds of even 50MPH and gusts to 70 will do much more damage than a 10 hour event. I still have trouble beleiving the winds will be that high, or for that long. I can barely even remember Irene... a pimple on an elephant's ass in my memory.

They are saying moderate flooding for LI. Most trees have already dropped leaves. Lower wind profile. Biggest concern might be leaves in the gutters, but around my place, easy enough to clear if needed.

I'm sure it will suck for many, but for me, I'm not worried in the least.

For our area..ny metro and L.I. Irene was childs play. Yeah...major flooding etc loss of power..quite honestly...I cant remember much about it. This puppy is a different story though...Hey...it can be overdone too...we shall see TB.

Very cool Hobbes...really enjoyable to go watch your children play in games. I remember my dad coming to my games and never understood how important it was until you have your own.

He is just very mellow today...you can tell his mind is racing. I asked him if he is nervous and he just says no...but I have never seen him this focused before..lol.

Have not seen how strong but the Euro came in but landfall in Sandy Hook. The consensus is beginning...A.C. to NYC.

I guess we can say official...if the models play out the way they have now shown for almost 4 straight days (have never seen such agreement in my life) this is an historic storm that is about to hit the entire mid atlantic and North East.

Storm starts Sunday (Winds will slowly begin to increase during Jets game) and begin to really pick up in intensity Sunday night...before going on a 24 hour period of heavy rain and CONSTANT heavy winds. Thats the key. 30-40-50 constant with gusts in the 60-70-80's range...for a huge area. Parts of Michigan will have gusts over 30...Canada too. All the way up to Maine.

The stall feature is now showing up again once it hits land. Comes into Central Jersey and just slowly crosses the state into PA. Once in PA, it slowly moves to the center of the state while maintaining most of its power..before slowly dying out and heading north into NY State....LATE TUESDAY.

Like I said...sons game tonight...will be back on after 11pm. Take this serious guys as far prepping for no power at least...Monday Tuesday no power is very likely and considering how many people lose power...many will be without it for more than a week. See ya later.

    ^ LOL.

Ok...one thing you have seen mention that made no sense at all was a very very very deep low pressure coming in to NJ and the precip amounts be lower than they should..well the models have ironed that out now..bad news...over 6 inches so all the parts are now there..and that sucks.

Bought a generator and got raped for two fuel cans. Hopefully I can get more fuel later as I have enough to run the generator for at least 12 hours.

We already had one gallon of gas but my step-dad went out tonight and got five more gallons. Testing the generator to make sure it's working fine right now. It'll be enough to keep the fridge going and lights. That's pretty much it.

My new car will go in the garage and stay there. My sister can deal with it. A 2013 Mustang does not sit under old trees.

I also got a ton of AA batteries the other day before hearing about the storm. They kind of suck but I got a lot so it's worth it. Got one case of water but I'm debating on going to get another. Also need to get beer...

Two of the towns near me just got mandatory evacuations. Both those towns are below sea level and border the ocean. They flood regularly with just normal storm.s

    Jay

I hope your son played well tonight. Sorry to bug you with more questions. Why the hell Bloomberg didn't sound as worried as I expected? No mandatory evacs, no school shut downs, no MTA shutdowns. Yet Weather channel finds Bllomberg's approach soft. I am confused
