Speaking of heat... had a friend pass out from heat exhaustion at the Stephen Marley concert last night... was pretty scary for a minute as I thought he had a seizure.

At my son in laws football practice had a player drop after 2 drills. It's going to be a rough start of the season since they haven't been able to have much real practice due to all the restrictions.

Very similar to the Caribbean, Dominica might be the greenest place I've ever seen while Bonaire looks like Las Vegas

The Atlantic is starting to wake up… unfortunately. Also looks like San Diego/la could see tropical activity this year before the east coast, which is strange.

Figures, 2 months after I move to 6 miles from the gulf and 1/2 mile from the Manatee river. Just checked this morning and they now forecast a bit stronger storm. I can only blame myself though, 2004 I decided to rent a place on the water, boom 4 hurricanes in a row.

Wind wasn't too bad near me but as @stinkyB said, storm surge was bad for many. About 1.5 miles down the road had a few streets with a couple feet of water in the houses but they are on the river side, out near the beach was really bad as would be expected. Most of Holmes Beach/Anna Maria Island got a few feet of surge. Only 1 school closed here today which is a good indicator it wasn't near as bad as it could have been.

We got 8 inches of rain, some gusty winds and 3 confirmed tornadoes within 3 miles of here. Needed the rain though.

Closer to home, all Long Island state beaches (Jones Beach, Robert Moses), as well as Hempstead town beaches (Point Lookout, Lido, Atlantic Beach) and Long Beach are closed for swimming due to the effects of Hurricane Franklin.

I almost hopped on a plane to JFK with some surfboards, but my brother had to work, and really is just a 1 day event, so I blew it off....
