The storm cman and I were talking about this weekend went off the board with the GFS and the Euro showed it but a one to two inch event.

Models have taken a very interesting turn the past 24 hours. GFS is on board with a storm coming up the coast...but the precip amount is still light...but higher than yesterday. A 1 to 3 inch event. But the boys over there are excited and expect that amount to increase the next 48 hours.

Bottom line is a possible moderate event for Saturday...followed by the coldest temps of the winter. Highs not hitting freezing for at least 2 days.

Tomorrows models should be interesting...but its getting late.

Come on...you are not impressed with the snow we received tonite!? lol...a nice little dusting.

Just a horrible pattern my friend for snow lovers. Horrible. Saturday...thats the best chance to equal the high for the year of about 4 inches..not including Halloween.

Then...the end of next week is the next best shot.

lol...now it really started J. Both the Nam and now the GFS keep bringing the storm a bit closer to the coast. In fact...the NWS discussion talks about a possible snow storm for LI and Eastern CN.

F THIS TREND APPEARS IN OTHER GUIDANCE AND/OR HOLDS WITH LATER
RUNS...WE COULD EVEN BE LOOKING AT A SIGNIFICANT SNOW FOR LONG
ISLAND AND MUCH OF SOUTHERN CT.

    http://forecast.weather.gov/product...&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=off

Thats not the newbies..thats the pros from the National Weather Service.

In short, whats happening is the phasing between the Jet Streams is happening earlier allowing the storm to develop south of us...instead of east of us.

I like to go by trends..and this thing everyday has trended that way. Something tells me tomorrow, it will even be more west. Something to watch for but as of today..still only a 2 to 4 inch storm for metro NYC.

Who you tellin.. I went out and dropped a pile of dough on a snowblower that's I've used exactly one time. You have no idea how cruel a wife can be sometimes especially when I made the case that we absolutely needed this snowblower which now doubles as a umbrella rack when it rains..

I hate you dude. Not because you are a Dolphins fan, just because you rub Florida's nice weather in our faces in this thread

Would you fuck off, pretty please?

    Jay

    Where is this snow man?

My kids want to play yet no big action like last year?

Did the same thing with shuttters...

Early in the last decade we got slammed with hurricanes...So about 6 Years ago I got those accordion shutters where you just close them up from either side and lock them...

Much easier than putting up the metal ones...

    Haven't used em since...

Ok...just to show you that even the weather nerds have a sense of humor? here is that Hitler thing done through a weather persons eye. They are referring to models and when he says the 540 line..that's the freezing line. Its actually quite funny..but you have to put in weather terms.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2PbT_o746w

Ok...as far as this storm goes the models are all over the place but generally agree that this will not be an all out snow storm. Yet someone will get much more than they forecast and where that band sets up is the question.

So I guess the million dollar over under is...do Cman or I have to actually get the snowblower out.

After reading Cmans little dilemma at home, I say fire it up and fake it. Hopefully, it will be needed but you will not get a real good idea until later tonite when Now-casting takes affect. I will be here to assist.

Do you do hurricane projections and stuff OR are you just a winter weather nerd?

Yes DS...I do the hurricane stuff too...and easy on the nerd stuff. They are nerds...I am a 235 lb pussy. So be careful.

Seriously, I love the snow a ton. But all severe weather is enjoyable..without the deaths of course.

Storm is entering Va. as we speak...do have a feeling it will outperform the predictions of 1 to 3 inches in this area. Wouldnt be surprised with 4 or more. Its pretty impressive right now.

SNOW HATERS: It continues to be your lucky winter. This storm? is falling apart faster than Brady trying to hit a wide open Welker to secure his first Superbowl without cheating. Yum.

The smaller storm is transferring its energy to the coast storm which is a bit too far out to sea FASTER than what was predicted...so expect even lighter amounts. Might be a burst here and there..but the winter of nothing continues.

Cman...i think you should get up very early....use a broom and get it all off the grass on to the driveway and then start your engine. Might need about a tenth of a gallon of gasoline and call it a day my friend.
