Problem with this system is when the eye hits...it will begin to bounce off land...and we will be on the northern fringe I believe but will experience the eye over head. that's the sick part of this FJF that not too many people understand. Winds are picking up and as you can see from the forecast above...the most dangerous part of all of this is the stalling and duration...almost 36 hours of cat 2 winds and over 2 feet of rain...not sure about the rain part...but the total package..wind and rain..Wilmington will fare the worst out of all. I will say this. Leading up to this...it had the greatest noreaster ever feel to it. Like being up north for a once in a lifetime snowstorm for me. The last 24 hours..as you shop and talk to the people down here that have been through these...you see the gentle southern personalities still...but you can feel a bit of fear in everyone. It no longer feels like a once in a lifetime snow event. Would be lying if I told you right now there is a sense of excitement...mixed with a ton of nervousness. A normal eye gives you 4 hours of the worst...then the eye...then another 3 or 4 hours backside. That is NOT what we will experience here. This maybe the longest time a single area feels hurricane force winds...hour duration….ever. Even Tropical storm winds will not die down until Sunday Morning....hurricane winds for over 36 hours starting in about 6 or 7 hours...and ending early Saturday morning. Never saw that before. Still...2 story home....as long as the T word doesn't get mixed in (tornado) we will be ok I believe. Will keep you guys updated more towards the evening until we lose power.
Jay Im sure you might have a generator and it might be a little late in the game to get one of these they could all be gone but you might want to look into a HALO,,,if you or anyone else are unfamiliar and there is a way to get your hands on one they are great I have one and kids use it often. Portable power can start your car up to 25 or so times with one charge it has a couple of outlets on it and HDMI ports and it fits in one hand .Good luck buddy stay safe and keep us posted ---here is what the Halo looks like ----->
