Maria looks like it could be a problem. Right now the long tern cone has it heading towards SC and Georgia although i'm sure it will change a lot. We could still use rain down here in SC and Georgia,but not anywhere north of here.
As of the 6oclock news today we had had 5.27 inches of rain in the past three days. I think we could use a break. Almost none of the prediction models show Maria and none show Katia hitting the States.

This is truly an historic storm just be the date alone. Unheard of this close to the coast. This storm was on the radar about a week ago and then about 4 days ago...it was gone for 24 hours..then all models latched on to the idea. Incredible. Its a true major noreaster except for the time of year. The weather geeks really want to bring considerable snow all the way into the major cities...the models say so...but with such warm ocean temps..they are staying away and keeping the major snow about 50 miles inland. This could be quite the surprise for those close to the coast too. It just is almost impossible to fathom 5 or more inches of snow this close to the coast...this early in the season...but it could happen. I will try to keep an eye out for it.
Doubtful there will be any snow by me in Ocean County, but I was planning on going up to Edison on Saturday. What is the outlook for Middlesex County on Saturday afternoon, Jay?
Absurd. As I was walking into work yesterday, it was a very frisk 40 degrees in Palo Alto, meanwhile I saw that NYC was around the high 50's. Granted it was still 3 hours later in the day... it's too early for snow, but I do enjoy a good cold front...
Hey Cakes. Saturday afternoon evening is when the brunt of the storm will be hitting. Edison is a tricky bastard. Gut feeling would be rain/heavy wet snow sticking to everything but the roads. But it will be coming down hard so it could get tricky. Just to put into perspective on how rare snow storms like this are for the end of Ocotober....here are some records copied from accuweather: --Allentown, Pa.: 2.2 inches on Oct. 31, 1925 --Baltimore, Md.: 2.5 inches on Oct. 30, 1925 --Boston, Mass.: 1.1 inches on Oct. 29, 2005 --Hartford, Conn.: 1.7 inches on Oct. 10, 1979 --Philadelphia, Pa.: 2.1 inches on Oct. 10, 1979 --New York City, N.Y. (Central Park): 0.8 of an inch on Oct. 30, 1925 --Washington, D.C.: 2.0 inches on Oct. 31, 1925 Every record on this list will fall except maybe Baltimore and Washington. They could...and if they do fall...then just to the west of NYC will get a half of foot of snow. Doubt it...but anyone that says doubt it is going by the time of year..not the models. The models say yes...but they have a hard time figuring the seasons...the sun and its location this time of year etc. The amazing thing about this storm is some people somewhere will get over a foot of snow..poconos? Central NY State? NW Conn.? NW New Jersey? Where that line winds up is a big guess
Yeah UK...your area really needs to be watched. Far enough off the coast so that that the ocean temps will not be a factor but close enough to the heavy bands that will set up. You might be in a jackpot area
